Absolutely one of my favourite players and one that I can’t help but feel has underachieved in his career. I’d still take the risk every day of the week though, if it paid off we’d be laughing.

While I doubt a) that we are interested in him and b) that he is the right player for us, those saying he couldn't hack it in La Liga are just plain ignorant. For two seasons at Villareal he was quite possibly the best playmaker on the planet and he was pretty much soley responsibly for their run to the European Cup Semi's in 06. His downfall at Villareal was down to a fall out with the heirachy, nothing else.

He is a good player and was a great player but he will no doubt want silly wages and I would rather have a young hungry player rather than an veteran looking for an easy couple of years and a nice retirement fund.

No thanks to Riquelme. He takes about half an hour to pick a pass (admittedly it's a good one) but if he was too slow for La Liga then he has absolutely no chance in the Prem.

He is also a right moody bastard aswell apparently.

If we got ourselves a big, powerful, pacy striker that could hold the line, then we could play Roman in behind him

Otherwise, I'd have to say 'no'

Speed, strength and bite in midfield thank you very much
