Sometimes you need to show people what it is their doing wrong.

Those players have shown in flashes that they can do it so why not coach them to do it more often? Watch film with them and encourage them.

Generally we sign players that have a certain reputation, sometimes we think A will bring this to the team and B is an upgrade on C. They get here and suddenly look worse than who they've replaced.

What are the coaches doing to them?

One of the things that concerned me most in the anonymous quotes contained in the newspaper article was the complaint that players who are dropped do not feel they receive any feedback on what it is they are doing wrong and that Poch concentrates all of his coaching on a handful of favourites.

Slightly disappointed Poch didn't speak to Vorm about not making the final after being in the Capital One team throughout the campaign .

I am not necessarily saying we should get rid of Poch but his performance on Saturday was a disgrace. We were outclassed and showed nothing in the first half, went in 2 goals down. Then came back for the second half with no changes - no subs, no tactical change, just more of the same rubbish we had in the first half.

Surely the manager is there to make changes, adapt to the ongoing game and performance, I am sure in the past Mourinho has used all three subs at half-time. Poch may as well not have been there for what he come up with.

At least he had the decency to apologise for the performance.

Completely agree. His stubborn reliance on an obviously ineffective set up and inability to use the options at his disposal are really pissing me off now. Why on earth you would bring on Soldado when we are down to 10 men defies belief.

NEGATIVES

Playing Mason and Bentaleb every week. Mason has played poorly for weeks. Meanwhile Dembele and Stambouli never get a look in.

Playing Eriksen every match when he is clearly spent.

Not playing Yeidlin or introducing any of our young players like Onomeh or Winks once our season was clearly over.

Mindless substitutions match after match. Cost us big time against Liverpool.

Persisting with 4-2-3-1 when we don't have the players for it.

Putting Rose on the bench when he was unfit to play.

The way we have ended the season after the League Cup Final is reminiscent of Spurs under Ramos. Remember how the next season started....

POSITIVES ( well sort of )

Harry Kane once Poch finally worked out he had more to offer than Adebayor or Soldado.

We beat Arsenal and Chelsea . Highlights of the season. Those were our cup finals. Small club mentality.

I would include performance against Everton at home as a positive as well, other than that, spot on!

Guys,

No matter who they bring in we are still not gonna be in the top 4.

So chill and let this guy have a couple of seasons to see how he does. Especially as he's trying to establish a core of ex-academy players.

Have a bit of patience.

Have to say I'm surprised how the last three months have gone. Around February time I was massively encouraged. The performance against Arsenal was of the best I've seen against them in the Prem era. The performance against Liverpool, albeit not quite the same level of intensity, was very encouraging to. Kane's goal, created beautifully by Lamela and Eriksen, was one of my favourite goals of the season. I remember thinking after the loss, as galling as it was, that I was feeling really proud of our efforts.

Everything seemed to change the week we played Fiorentina at home followed by West Ham on the Sunday. He tinkered with the side, more than tinkered he made sweeping changes, in an attempt to balance all fronts. What we got was a bit of a mess. Although we did ok against Fiorentina at home, creating several fist half chances, the game against West Ham was really poor. Eriksen was on the bench and Dembele had that nightmare first half -. was hooked and we've barely seen him since - and coincidentally we havn't see the Arsenal/Liverpool type of performance since either. Anyway that week seemed to be the beginning of the end.

Since then I really have become more and more concerned. Poch kept selecting players that wern't pressing from the front which affected the whole dynamic of his supposed style. So if that's not bad enough, the fact that he's so rigid in his approach and doesn't seem capable to respond astutely during a game, depending how things are going etc, compounds these bewildering decisions regarding player selection.

I mean if you're going to be that rigid and inflexible you better at least get your own approach/style right. That obviously involves selecting the players who best fit to implement your style. And this is where it becomes extremely bewildering. Its not like he hadn't stumbled on the blue print, for this season anyway, he had. The performances around the end of January/start of February were immensely encouraging and resembled the high intensity game we associated with Southampton last season - swarming all over the opposition and overwhelming them. Physical fatigue could be a factor given the physical demands of such a style, and over a long hard season etc, but Poch effectively killed our season completely prematurely because of his decision making.

I still have no idea why he shied away from what was clearly working and I'm still just as perplexed now as I was over two months ago. The performances since have been incredibly underwhelming and when you couple that with his refusal to affect games tactically, or at least tweak the approach/set up its left a pretty grim feeling truth be said.

Big summer lies ahead for what business we can do. If he's going to stick so rigidly to this set up he needs the players that can deliver his style effectively, and consistently, and of course players who are buying into this so that his hands arn't tied etc which could be part of the problem with some of the players now - the ones who appear to fit better but he's overlooking for one reason or another.

Time to truly judge is still this time next season IMO, but overall I've been left a bit disappointed after feeling so excited a couple of months ago.

THIS! Even though I'm still sure we missed a trick not getting De Boer instead!
