Poch January 2014 at Southampton:
"We are in the middle of our new project. Nicola knows of my decision to stay; I have spoken to him. I am fully committed to the staff, the players, the club and it would make no sense to leave in the middle of our path."

Hope this doesn't repeat itself. He's only human. Also hope he had a slap up meal courtesy of Ferguson...Mr Creosote style.

And then they sold Lallana, Lambert, Chambers, Shaw and Lovren.

Didn't Cortese then leave himself, leading to Poch's players to be sold ?

two things: one I trust Poch and his comments about the new deal but recognize he will leave in a few years (after the new stadium and a title). It will not however be to Utd but Atletico Madrid or PSG.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I agree with the last two posters. This was discreet tapping up and the fact he was there suggests he's interested. I think he was a bit alarmed to discover photographers outside- you can see it in his face.
He hasn't signed the contract yet- why? Was last week's announcement a hurry up message to united?
If they sack van gaal I think they will approach him and I think he will be very interested.
A bit alarmed to see photographers outside? It was a well known restaurant in a prominent position in the middle of London not Bert's greasy spoon up some side street in North London. if it was supposed to be on the down low then it wasn't very subtle.

The Sun reported today that Levy knew about this meeting a week or so ago and gave the all clear. Also if this was a genuine attempt to tap up Poch, why would you do it in such a public place, not only that but why would you all leave the restaurant using the same exit at exactly the same time.

I know Man Utd themselves are a bit amateurish in their dealings these days, but SAF isn't, they'd do this a whole lot more privately than this. I'm personally quite encouraged that our coach is talking to the most successful manager, who experienced long tenure at one club, I'm sure there are plenty of things he could learn.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist.

It's a bit fishy the way this was all conducted whilst in full view of the media. Almost as if it was planned...

I'm hoping maybe it's Ed Woodward trying to appease the Utd fans with a "We're Man Utd the biggest club in the world. We can get anyone to talk to us" type of smokescreen, before their inevitable failure to appoint Mourinho leaving them with LVG for another year. Kind of like that time when Alan Sugar made a big show of putting in a half-arsed bid for Juninho, but ended up buying Jose Dominguez.

Either that or Poch is genuinely interested.

think that the reaction from some fans does seem overly nervy to others but is probably a reaction to the fact that things seem on the up and - if recent history is considered - that is usually when the floor falls away...the fans will be the last to lose that nervy tottenham feeling. Probably will require a title to do so!

I don't think Poch would discuss a role at Manure while there is an incumbent in place, Mr van Gaal. He is not that kind of guy. But he should know the pressure that Van Gaal is under so its a little disrespectful to the Dutchman.

So in my view the timing is rotten. The season isn't over. Its going to start the rumour mill and we still have to play Newcastle. Sends a bad message to the Spurs fans and the players as well. From that perspective, I think it was a dumb move overall.

They were all sold afterwards. Poch was the first to jump ship in May 2014..

The majority of those deals were all but done before he left, only delayed by the world cup. I had agent-based ITK at the end of the 2013/14 season that Lallana to Liverpool was all but done before the WC. And what is undeniable is that Cortese left beforehand, which is the equivalent of Levy walking out on Poch tomorrow...

I fully stand by my opinion that the Southampton exit has no relevance (unless half of our squad are looking to get out and Joe Lewis falls out with and sacks Levy!).

It's probably because nothing can be ruled out in football. It's like no other business. Confident he won't go, but the biggest club in the world would like him as manager

As predicted you have all turned into whining bitches over a couple of photos.

Poch isn't going anywhere. Why explicitly come out and say he is signing a new contract if he wants to leave?lol

Finishing above Arsenal this season would be a good start, I think the last couple of weeks have brought the 'same old Tottenham' vibe back big time.
