The Supporter's Trust have issued a statement.

http://www.tottenhamtrust.com/viewnews.asp?id=398

"We therefore hope that any further media coverage of this matter will stick to what is true and not to what is imagined. We believe that the worthy work of excellent organisations such as Kick It Out will only ever be done a disservice by indiscriminate and inaccurate accusations of racism."

We also need to do more. This is media overhyping of the worst kind. If anyone calls into the likes of Five Live or Radio London to talk about Spurs, then we should state our case. This is unacceptable. We're not racist, we're not homophobic, but we are fucked off at a Judas scumbag who betrayed the spirit of football when he went scurrying over the Gooner bastards.

You can't deny it isn't Homophobic. It is.

I listened to 5 live on Friday evening when Bernie Kingsley sent that statement, and it was read out in a cursory way, with no discussion afterwards.

I listened again today at Lunchtime. Eleanor Oldroyd and 2 press guys were still talking about Racism as part of the accusation. So it hasn't made the slightest difference.

The press have decided it was Racism, and the charge will stick whatever we say.

"Sol Sol wherever you may be
la la la la la la la la
lalalalala
la la la la la etc etc"

Now, does anyone think this means we are saying Sol campbell is "La La"....:duh:

It could be changed to us humming the rest of it, instead of the la la-ing, but that might be construde as us insinuating he is dumb!

Abject abandonment of responsibility is what it is. The perfect opportunity of playing a pro-active role has been missed.

Mr. Kingsley needs to grow a set.

Apparently so because they have already.

And it's just a football chant.

It doesn't bother me but then again not having any jewish heritage it doesn't touch any nerves so I don't know how it would feel to someone who does.

well it does with me,i lost family not in the holocaust but in the pogroms that preceded it. If you know me as a poster, you will see that im massively anti Israel but still my family died as a result of people thinking it was OK to say crappy things about them. For me as a person , I support Tottenham Hotspur the football club. I don't support the idiots who sing hateful songs against other people, I support a FOOTBALL team, you know 11 blokes who go out and try to win a game by being better than the other lot. Thats all I care about, I couldn't give a shit if campbell sold us down the river when he left, the point is he's left and no amount of abuse is going to change that. All we can do as a club is try and be better. And the morons singing shit at campbell are doing nothing more than bringing our club into line with 'there used to be a football club over there".... they should be ashamed of themselves.

You do talk some crap, what's that quote got to do with the price of milk, that quote goes back to Burkinshaw from about 84' when he was referring to Scholar moving in with his business buddies, when the club moved from a football club to a business, something that Levy has certainly taken on!!

You're quite right, I was as pissed as a fart when I wrote it, got my quotes/eras messed up.. I was more referring to Nicholson and his opinion on crowd hooliganism. Personlly I think he'd have been embarassed by this chant.

Note to self, never post when so drunk you can barely see the keyboard :)

Surely it would be kindest to all concerned if we just had the old bitch put to sleep to avoid any more suffering.

I don't think our fans can be accused of being racist and after years of Chavski fans and Wet Spammers singing "Gawd bless Adolf" and all that gas chamber 'humour', we should be being charged for homophobic chanting against someone who has not declared himself to be gay.

Its like saying Crouch is sick of all the racist abuse he gets....

Like it or not we are press targets of the moment for various reasons. We are a rag editor's dream.

Personally, I don't think anything will come of the police activity. Plod can't even make a case against BNP stick nowadays with hours of close up video and they have a poor recent record on mistaken identities.

I dislike Scumball intensely for what he did but I'm not going to let it shape my life. Anyone who chants something near to the knuckle at WHL in future definitely runs the risk of being singled out and (if not ejected there and then) banned by ticket tracing. You pays your money and takes your chances.

What I would like to see is the FA/Plod taking a wider view of "abuse" to include other clubs fans' (and not just directed at us either). To do otherwise would surely be discrimination

Drop the song, just chant 'Judas ****' repeatedly, with orchestrated pointing. Everyone's happy, except Judas and those who believe football grounds should be free of foul language. And Judases and ****s, of course.

If there are prosecutions or persecutions then it will become clear that it is not racism because any challenge will be upheld based on the fact that you cannot accuse someone of racism based on your own interpretation.
Anybody that knows the Christian religion knows that Judas comitted suicide and was found hanging from a tree the fact that the press and other people don't know that or choose to ignore that doesn't make it racism.
That is fact and there can be no arguement with it quite obviously it is not racist.

As for the lunacy jibe well bugger me if we are going to ban people for calling lunacy about someone half the media should be sitting at home on their own waiting for a call, particularly as the guy pretended he had head clarity problems to con arsene wenger into freeing him from his contract, at which time he promised he wouldn't play for another English club then deceitfully got on the first train to Portsmouth.

Apparently if you say that someone has HIV you are calling them a homosexual? There is no mention of homosexuality in that song only HIV but of course as any old hack from wappingshire knows it's only gays that get HIV.???

Campbell is a deceitful cheat he has proved that on at least two occasions with two different clubs which amounts to betrayal which makes the Judas claim correct, However he isn't mad and doesn't have problems of that kind he only pretends to for his own reasons and whats more he isn't gay (by any definition of the word, the miserable sod) and doesn't have HIV so the song is offensive.
Should people be banned for life just for being offensive?

That said it is a shitty stupid moronic song and I've never liked it and that goes for the adebayor one too so if this does nothing but stop them I'll be happy.
I'm with SS57 on this, if people feel the need then just a simple Joooooooooodas!! would suffice and actually be more effective.

As you point out the interpretation of that song can be twisted pretty much any way somebody with an agenda wants - anti-semetic , racist , homophobic and a slur on the mentally ill .

It's horrible and I would never defile myself by singing it and have even suggested to other people that they stop singing it .

My problem with lifetime bans is not only that it is completely out of proportion but more than that it's bloody patronising .

The rich and privileged stopped us watching football standing up , then they took away our seats to replace them with corporate boxes .

I draw the line at having them tell people what they can and can't say . There's far too much of this sort of thing .

I live in a world of reality, where I freely use my brain to make judgments. Your reference to no one caring until now is so very wide of the mark it's unbelievable!

As for football being an "adult pantomime" from an earlier post maybe we should just close the family enclosures down and leave the crying children at home!

Are you saying your child has cried because someone was singing a homophobic song at Sol Campbell?!

And that's the exact reason family enclosures exist, because, football grounds are an adult environment... people in the UK don't want a trip to the local sports ground to be a once or twice a year family occasion, like it is in say, America, where the crowd sits through the match (although now we're often forced) and sings 'Defense, Defense' and 'Lets go Tot-Nam!, Lets go Tot-Nam'... for me and my mates, and I'd imagine the vast majority at WHL and other grounds around the country, its an escape from reality, as Flatters has said, like an Adult pantomime, I wanna have a few beers, boo the opposition, cheer our team, shout "its behind you" whenever Dawson gets caught in possesion etc...

Not that I want to sound like a knuckle dragging ****, by all means families should come to football matches, it's just they should know what to expect... and sit in the family enclosure, away from the worst of the chanting... you can't even tell what they're saying... (I remember when I first went to WHL asking my dad why they were all shouting "Vialli" even tho he played for Chelsea )

Bloody right, Football is a game for adults, when my dad started taking me properly when i was about 7 he just used to tell me to close my ears for a few hours, whats wrong with that if your well adjusted!

Unlawful racist chants etc should not be tolerated but for me anything else goes

We need to common sense here

Personally I think 7 years abuse is enough. The guy served us well for 10 years through some pretty tough times. I remember being at the home game against Bolton a few years ago when Les Ferdinand warmed up for Bolton. He was given a standing ovation because the club got rid of him rather than the other way around. But when you think of it we spent a lot of money on Les and he underachieved with us. We spent nothing on Sol and he was our best player for many seasons.

We have got to get over this inferiority complex if we really want to become a top team, and start treating our players, past and present, with respect.

99% of past players get a fantastic reception when they return to the lane, or when we visit the ground of their new team. Even last Sunday Dean Marney received a good round of applause.

The thing is respect is a two way street. Judas completely disrespected us, in fact blatantly lied to us.

I couldn't care less if it happened yesterday or seven years ago. He made his bed, he has to lie in it.

When Stephen Carr left to go to Newcastle he said he had left to go to a bigger team!!! But a I can't imagine him getting a reception like that. Is that not because his career went downhill, whereas Sol Campbell achieved some success?
