As the linked article and the title suggest, the mighty Posh have gained promotion to division 1 under the expert guidance of one Duncan Ferguson - WB son of Sir Alex (the bloke who manages 'The other united'.

I would have pasted the article here for everyone to enjoy without the tiresome inconvenience of a 'click', but instead I will summarise it.

Short tempered, potatocake-eating scotchman Darren Ferguson is (obviously) "delighted" at his team's promotion from division 2.

Does anyone else think that the word "delighted" seems to be used almost exclusively in football contexts, either by those who are, or those who wish they were, involved in the game?

Needless to say, I am delighted to see Posh promoted, and the junior Ferguson is doing a fine job.

Duncan? Really? As in 'Drunk'n'disordely' Ferguson, the ex-Everton striker? I thought Fergie's son was called Darren. Or is this another one?

Yours Sincerely,

I bet you feel very proud of yourself, you smug arse. Yes, the other one. I had the article open and was even reading the name as I was typing. How did I make such a mistake? Well, both men have beaten women (Darren has admitted to it, Duncan probably has), both are Scotch, and I often have Dunc on the brain and randomly insert his name into my sentences, pretty much on a daily Duncan.

I hope this clears up any misunderstanding you may have had and that we can both put this sorry mess behind us.

Yours apologetically

Duncan of Daehanminguk

Actually, I could have just clicked on the link to find out. So the jokes on me. Or rather it isn't. In fact, the truth's on me. Like Milky Bars on the Milky Bar Kid.

I doubt they'll go bust, they've got that Irish dude bank rolling them. They're kind of like the Chavski of league 2.

I used to go to London Road when I couldn't get Spurs tickets, although now I have a season ticket I don't bother.

Simon Davies and Matthew Etherington used to play for them back then, and it used to cost a mere £5 to get in for a child, even though I was 20. The football was toilet!!
