it sounds bitter but it's laughable how much of an achievement everyone thinks it is winning the league when you're at worst second or third favourite every year.

Many congratulations to Chelsea Football Club for their sixth league title, a feat achieved by Arsenal Football Club only 69 years ago.

It boils down to the fact we had that really dull run of six or seven leading to the arsenal game where we looked a shadow of ourselves. That run killed us in my view, we needed to win a couple of those games but we didn't unfortunately.

I don't think any of us thought we were in a title race at that point. In fact back then Liverpool were the hot shit. Fact is Chelsea went on a massive run, no one could go with them. Except us. Once we found our feet in the season we were just as good as them.

If Chelsea had the injuries we suffered (setting aside no Europe) they might have had a "dull run" - they didn't.

It's a miracle it was as close as it was. Actually not a miracle - we were just that good for a very long time.

It's part of modern football fandom to derive as much enjoyment from the failures and misfortunes of other clubs as from the success of your own.

The Arsenal trophyless run of 18 years is known as "The Long Sleep" - It ran from 1953 to 1971.
They did win an Inter City Fairs Cup in 1970 but this was not recognised by UEFA.

During that period Spurs achieved the first League and FA Cup double of the 20th century and the first
British win of a European trophy and two other FA cups and a League Cup.

I don't like Chelsea, but I refuse to belittle my own team's achievements by acting like a sore loser.

I will simply be that much happier when we do win the league and the fact that that appears even remotely realistic is something to be proud of.
