very good point. The homegrown rule is flawed in my opinion, Yeah it will be good for our national side as more english players will get oppertunitys. But it favours the rich clubs ala chelski and man city, who can afford to get the best english players and jsut chuck the selling club a blank check. People can say what they want about levy, but the man is extremely buisness savvy.

In this case i think its pretty obvious this is harrys target. But its levy and the board who give a valuation of the player and whether the player is viable to the club financially. Obviously i have no idea of the inner working of the club but i would assume harry and the coaching staff single out their targets ask Levy to go buy them, Levy then decides which players are realistic (financially) and which could potentially make them a profit and goes to negotiate. If levy felt a player wasn't going to be an asset to club as a team or the club as a business he wouldn't buy him.

Agree.

don't forget the 6/5 rule being touted as on it's way - i know we're in a pretty sound position anyway for homegrown talent, but as one England international leaves, one arrives. It's a sensible, practical piece of business from that perspective as it means we a) won't be paying top dollar for English players when the time comes to implement the rule, and b) we'll be able to charge top dollar for anyone interested in our stock, young and established. Horrible way to look at it, but realistic from the view of the money men.

We will be laughing if that is implemented.

As it stands. We only got 10 million for Bent. And we paid 9 for Crouch. So time will tell if this is a good signing. Stylistically I know it makes sense as Bent is a lone poacher and never played well with our other strike options (which were many).

I see less frustration with Crouch in the mix so that can only be a good thing. Looks like a great character in teh dressing room too.

With a view to £16.5m which is superb considering we only paid £12m for him.

How is a 2 million loss superb? As it stands, we are down on the deal.

Where are your facts that we only paid 12m total for Bent? Are we still paying it off perhaps?

Who says it's a loss yet?

We don't know how much of th £16.5m we will see.

And, if you remember, we agreed to complete the payment for Bent early on request from Charlton who settled for £12m.

It just occur to me that we can play 10 outfield english players which looks like this:

JD PC
Lennon JJ Huddlestone Bently
O'Hara Woody King Naughton
Just wondering which other team play a stronger all english team.

Cudicini counts for goalie, he's ben in England long enough to have citizenship

And Bale can count for left back because Wales is a principality and governed by English Parliament :grin:

I often think about what you've just though, our all foreign team's not too bad either:

Gomes
Hutton Corluka Bassong Ekotto
Giovani Boateng Palacios Modric
Keane Pavlyuchenko

You know Wales has it's own parliament now, right?

It's called the National Assembly for Wales, or Cynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru. and has been in existence for aboooout eleven years? twelve? I can't even remember when they started it all up now...

Yeah it was lazyness on my part, I should've said that they're still subject to Parliament, which they are. Gordon and co can still veto any legislation they pass, and it's only in select areas that they can pass primary legislation. They don't really have sovreignty.
