We got an important result today,” he told reporters. “I don’t really care if Arsenal win 4-0 if I’m honest – I’m sure Spurs will – but I only care that our fans enjoy themselves.

Collocini is back which is big for them. He is their organiser at the back and they have missed him more than anyone.

Ben Arfa fit, Cisse offering a threat, Cabaye, Tiote...they have enough in their side to give the goons trouble.

The home support are hardly pleased with their league form this season too. Perfect way to go out by beating one of the big boys, leaves everyone on a high over the summer.

Is still very much the goons to lose but come on, we all know this divison is hardly the most predictable. Losing two home games 0-6 and then 0-3 is more likely to force a reaction as opposed to another spanking.

Watch Wigan get a point, Newcastle win 3-0 and then we go and lose to Sunderland!

What an absolutely stupid thing to say. At what point will fans enjoy themselves while losing 4-0? This season has shown this fool up for the mediocre manager he is.

Fucking idiot.

Wigan can do us a big favour by beating Arsenal and we can then return the favour by beating Sunderland.

Can't wait until he's sacked and is managing at Preston or Swindon or at the level he's actually at. Hopeless manager.

That late Lampard goal may haunt us I fear - I could see Everton getting a result that will leave us thinking what if again

I just really hope Wigan pull off their survival miracle - teams like them make the PL a richer place and the likes of SToke have no place in it. Plus for them to stay up they have to beat Arsenal (which would be nice ay)

This time next week, we will either be holding our arms up in jubilation or with our head in our hands wondering what might have been.

We will know if Arsenal dropped any points and if we had a new found steely-resolve.

Arsenal will face off against Wigan, as you know, on Tuesday. Wigan have been playing brilliantly lately and put on a show against Manchester City where they only looked outclassed for a few minutes. Martinez is getting the best out of them right now and if there's any relegation-battling side that I'd want Arsenal to face, it'd be them.

Then, next Sunday we will be facing off against a Sunderland side that if Wigan gets a win against Arsenal will be fighting for their EPL lives. Now, if Wigan draws, Sunderland will be pretty much safe given their favorable goal differential. Sunderland will be without their/our best player in Danny Rose and their other 'best' players Fletcher, Sessegnon and Gardner. Their back four will most likely consist of Bardsley-Cuellar-O'Shea-Colback; not exactly Stoke.

On the other hand, Arsenal comes up against Newcastle who really can't be trusted. Newcastle will be to their third choice GK (Martin Fulop anyone) and Tiote looked to be injured (despite being a liability at times, his shocker goal against Arsenal, anyone?). Do they have the talent to get a result? Of course they do. But as we have seen so many times this season, it's not all about the talent, it's about the desire to actually show up and put together a good performance.

Oh, and their fearless leader, Alan Pardew, comes out with this peach of a quote after they were deemed 'safe' today:
“We got an important result today,” he told reporters. “I don’t really care if Arsenal win 4-0 if I’m honest – I’m sure Spurs will – but I only care that our fans enjoy themselves.

For me, I'd have to say our season comes down to Tuesday and on the shoulders of Wigan. But, I think we can all agree that just about anything could happen even if it were to come down to the Arsenal vs. Newcastle match.

With that being said, I'm hugely impressed by this side. Since the beginning of February we've grabbed 27 points. We've done this without key members of the squad at times - Bale, Sandro, Kaboul, Lennon and Dembele. We've come up against some worthy opponents: Everton, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and didn't lose to not even one of them. We went to Stoke and were the 4th team in the EPL to come away from the Brittania with a victory.

Champions League or not, I feel safe in saying that we are heading in the right direction.

This season has been an absolute blur and there's still more to come.

Its fucking outrageous. Was he managing West Ham at the time of Lasagnagate?

Me thinks that twat Pardews words are being taken ever so slightly out of context...

how is it being taken out of context? you think it's fine for a manager of a football club to say he doesn't care if his team loses 4-0 next week?

oh and thanks for the petty red cross.

Maybe a heat of the moment comment but such a stupid thing to say, esp on the back of their last 2 home results. Would love to hear what Toon fans make of it. If they do get hammered questions should be asked.

Just returning the favour bud. You disagree with what I say, I disagree with what you say. What's the issue? It's ok to dish out yet not receive? Strange.

Anyway, back to grown up land...

Pardew is a twat. Always has been, always will be. He has come out with a load of old nonsense before and will do again. This is one of those moments. He is full of rubbish.

Nobody at Newcastle will be impressed if they go out and lose 4-0 on the final day. Trust me. Pardew included. After all, it could well be his last game, nobody wants to go out like that!
