There’s a max of 5 in Europe next season for this possibility but not 6. So only issue is 2 clubs outside the top 4 winning European trophies. Liverpool and City will finish top 4 and Chelsea are out of CL so no fear there anymore. It will be top 4 and possibly Arsenal, tho they have a way to go.
Would be a much less satisfying season though if we managed to beat Arsenal by all those points to get into the CL for them to also get in?. Just bragging rights I know, but important to some of us. Bit like Utd last year with City fans!
Ideal for me would have been we finish 2nd. Arsenal are beaten in the final ( all that for nothing:). And Liverpool finish fourth and Chelski fifth. Add then wet spam get relegated and adds icing on the cake?

Arsenal has a good chance of winning the EL but Atletico and Lazio are still in it and they are good enough to beat Arsenal. Regarding Liverpool winning the CL, they would have to beat two out of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern and I just deem that highly unlikely. Not impossible of course but these elite teams have the experience and quality to completely nullify Liverpools guns out blazing tactics.

Even in that theoretical "Arsenal win the EL and Liverpool win the CL, but Liverpool manage to finish outside of the top 4" scenario, I can't believe that we wouldn't be the team finishing 3rd (and in the CL for next season) and Chelsea wouldn't be the ones finishing 4th (and missing out on CL). No way do Chelsea overtake both Liverpool AND Spurs with the points leads we both have now: it's mathematically possible, but it just isn't going to happen.

We're at more risk of losing CL football for next season by simply Chelsea overhauling the 8 point gap and pushing us into 5th spot (which I also don't think will happen) than we are of finishing 4th but being denied by Arsenal winning the EL and Liverpool winning the CL and Chelsea finishing 3rd. I'm not remotely worried by the chances of the latter scenario.

am just so glad we beat the chavs. every other result has gone against us this week so the forum would have been on suicide watch otherwise.

fwiw, i think we'll finish 3rd and win the fa cup.

If the league finishes:

1. city
2. united
3. spurs
4. dippers
5. chavs
6. shite

But Arsenal win the EL and Liverpool win the CL, who do the four CL places go to next season?

Because to me it looks like City, United, Liverpool and Arsenal...
We can have max of 5

I think the Foyth signing was quite telling in regards to Poch future. Must have been very big deal for foyth to leave Argentina at that age. Poch must have played a big part in convincing him. He must have given him some reassurance that he would be at spurs for a while. I believe Poch to be a man of his word. I don’t believe he’d make false promises that involved a kid uprooting his whole life, if he wasn’t totally committed to the project. Poch isn’t an idiot, he’s in a totally unique situation with us. He has the opportunity to replicate Ferguson and Wenger. I very much doubt he’s gonna find the exact blend he has here at any other club in world football.

He has genuine world class in Kane and Eriksen with Sanchez and Dele not far behind.

How many wins will see us over the line now?

The most Chelsea can get is 77 points. We've got a comfortably better GD so 13 points would be enough (from a possible 21). 4 wins will do it (you would think).

As others have said, if we finish above Chelsea then all other permutations involving Liverpool/Arsenal winning European trophies are irrelevant.

I also remember people saying there is no way that will get past City, and let’s face it for anyone who saw the match they destroyed them, especially first half. And I really think City were one of the favorites to win the CL. Now I am not saying Liverpool WILL win the CL only that is possible. And I would say after lasts nights win and the teams left in the competition ARSEnal have a very good chance of winning that.

The whole Liverpool finishing outside the top for is highly improbable but of course not impossible. Remind Leicester City on the league the year before last! Funny ole game football.

I think team bus thing rattled them.

I think we will finish 2nd or third, if city beat united then we are 2 points off second.

Well, with City being spanked tonight by Liverpuddle, if they want to go through they will really have to go at it full tilt next week, and this weekend they will really want to win at home to Man U to win the title. I recon that by next weekend they could be knackered. In the meantime we have just one game this weekend. Tonight's result was the best for us!! :):):)

@Bomsey why is this Spam? It's appropriate for the thread. You might not agree with me, and that's fine, but that doesn't make it Spam!

Can you really see them beating an Atletico side with Diego Costa bullying the shit out of them up top?

So we can lose to City and they still have 6 points to potentially drop to nonetheless finish in top four? SO even three wins and three draws would do it?

Can't see us not doing that if we maintain form.

Yup potentially a good weekend for us. Everton could easily squeak a draw if not a win. Salah is huge for Liverpool be interesting to see them without him. United obviously could lose. So just need to get job done and may be in a cracking position come Monday.
