We'll be incredibly unlucky to stay in the top 4 after close of the play on Sunday. That said I'd take Burnley replacing us temporarily as it will mean Arsenal will have lost.

We've taken 4 points from the last 12.

We had a mini slump around this time last season, maybe slightly earlier, where we didn't win for four games or something.

Poch has to arrest this immediately or the players are going to think turning up and coasting is acceptable.

We need a big performance and result against Leicester to revive our league form.

Kane, Eriksen and Alli need to show more consistency with their performances, although I'm not convinced the former is 100 per cent.

we had something similar when Toby was injured last season

I've just noticed that we're playing Burnley again (23/12) before we play Southampton for the first time (26/12). Is this normal or will the fixtures be rearranged before then? I always thought you had to play all 19 other teams before you started playing the reverse fixtures?

City XI | Ederson, Walker, Otamendi, Kompany (c), Delph, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling, Sane, Aguero

Funny when you actually look Player for player. For me the only player that 100% walks into our team imo is de Bruyne instead of winks/dembele and I guess walker .Ederson otamendi kompany Delph don’t get in. The rest are all debatable.

Feranandinho over winks/Dier/wanyama not sure
Silva over eriksen not sure eriksen more goal threat imo.
Sterling over dele I’d prob take dele.
Sane over Son. Not sure Son is more of a goal threat.
Kane all day over aguero for me.
Our defence is markedly stronger imo. On paper there really isn’t a massive amount in it.Unless the likes of dele eriksen are vastly overrated?

I love Son but I think Sane is quickly becoming one of the best platers in the league. Also the options they have compared to us is the difference. They can rotate between Aguero and Jesus at will whereas we rely on Kane. Also we seem to rely solely on Eriksen and to a lesser degree Dele for creativity whereas they have KDB, Silva x 2 and then Gundogan from CM who are all "creative" players.

I do agree though that on paper the first 11's (when all fully fit) are pretty even.

For all those saying close the thread and we will struggle to get top 4 our results so far this season are almost the same as the same games last season.

Appreciat what your saying but we are a long way behind and in all honesty can you really see us overhauling that gap I can't, we are struggling with breaking teams down not a one off but happening week on week an over reliance on Kane and with some players out of form plus a lack of quality within the squad.

I've been saying for the last few years that the thread title shouldn't be "race for...". Just have it spurs season 17/18 and see what happens.
Do i think we can win the title? I think it extremely difficult and top 4 will be difficult as usual. I will wait till the end of the season to judge if it has been good or bad. The same things that people are saying in this thread today are the same things people said last seasonand the one before that.

That's your right to disagree of course but if he is a better manager how come he still hasn't found a way around team's who sit deep, that's not to say I don't rate him because I do but he needs to sort this out.

because at the end of the day the players have failed to do it. it's not Poch's fault the passes or shots don't come off.

no matter what player plays in any game, if the ball does fall in the right place, a player can't pass it to the player they want, or hit the cross they want, or guarantee that the keeper will make a save. it doesn't matter how quick you pass it, if 1 of the 10 defenders are in the way.

what's gone wrong this season, compared to last season is failing to get the 1st goal very early, get that then the parkers have to come out

That's probably because the same issues are there from the season before.

the fixtures have all been kind of skew wiff this season, think it's due to it being a world cup year and trying to make sure less burn out I think. last season we had 4 fixtures in May, now providing no games need re-arranging the max we would play is 3 if we get to the FA Cup final

the thread will get messy people will be posting in here instead of the match day thread, chase for top 4 would be better, but because the way we finished last season some have got over excited:rolleyes:

Im more concerned about finishing top 4 now. Losing then being below the current Arsenal team is embarrassing.

It’s honestly very fine margins. Just from memory city have lucked 4 pts late on with with very lucky goals. Today and Bournemouth. We’ve been unlucky v Burnley late goal and say Kane’s effort goes on v Swansea instead of bar that’s an 8 point swing and we’d be right in it. Virtually all the points we’ve lost this season we’ve more or less thrown away. Arsenal was probably only game we were fairly beaten apart from 2 offsides. Maintain with a bit more luck we could be a lot closer.:(

Take the blinkers off. Eriksen is better then David Silva... Of course he is.
