Well we was 2-0 up without playing great then decided not to turn up second half embarrassing

I'm a bit late in replying to this but it seemed to me that we were 2-0 up and started showboating and strolling about instead of getting on with the job in hand - then got cold-cocked.

Can we hold you to this?!!

Ok I should have said ENIC have guaranteed with have the “means” to be competitive for next 100 years. They have also hugely pimped us for a prospective sale which can only be good. As whoever does buy us will have to have some serious wedge.

Let's be cautious there. The Premier League has more than a few examples of why such owners aren't always good news - and there's a few more stuck in League One.

But we have good examples in city and Chelsea of what happens when the right owners take over.

I think the point he's making is that ENIC could have just spent 1 billion on players and we'd do really well and everyone would be saying "yay ENIC King Daniel" etc but instead they've invested/borrowed 1 billion into infrastructure: stadium, training ground, facilities etc so that for years to come we should at least narrow the gap to the bigger teams in a sustainable way

In terms of revenue, the new stadium will help to close the gap on Liverpool and possibly Arsenal. However City, United and Chelsea will remain beyond our reach.

And bad examples of what happens with the two teams respective previous owners, you can count that for Liverpool as well.

With regards to THFC, I think this is a moot point. Firstly, Levy/Lewis would surely do the necessary due diligence on any prospective buyers. Levy is a fan of the club and he'll want his legacy passed on to someone sensible. Secondly, the fact they would require a premium (£1billion +) for the sale automatically precludes anyone but the astronimically super-rich. I don't think we're in any danger of being taken over by someone who couldn't invest in the team.

Lewis reportedly has mentioned £2bn. I think £1.5bn is probably realistic. As Said it’s hard to imagine someone stumping up £1.5bn and being a cowboy. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s an existing NFL franchise. Someone may have already tipped Levy the wink which is why he made it NFL friendly. I think American naming rights will almost certainly indicate that.

We’re still obsessed with buying trophies aren’t we? We still want someone to come in, whack a billion quid on the table for a few quick mega-transfers, and become another fucking Chelsea c ten years ago. .

No thank you.

I want us to win everything in a way that makes me proud. Behaving like some oil-thief still has no appeal to me, even if it does come with a few grubby trophies. I know we’re all desperate for global recognition and the fawning praise that the doped clubs get, but that’s descending to their level. We should be aiming higher than that. Win things properly.

I support Spurs, not Sheik ****face or one of Putin’s crooked crew or anyone else who just wants to show off the size of his pipeline.

I agree completely- might be the view "pre-money" - which could change if success materialised in this way- but our story currently sits so well with the "sustainable organic" model of investment in training ground, stadium and youth. Now if someone was to come and do a hybrid of one or two stars to supplement gap in current model then great- too much and we lose what Enic have built over the years- for me pride (despite the occasional and current knock!)

Yeah completely agree. Obviously if something was to happen and we were to win multiple trophies our mindset may somewhat change but as I am now, I don't like what I see with Chelsea when you look at how their youth barely gets a look in and never probably will for example, City just buying the world and to me making their accomplishments feel somewhat hollow , there's just no soul in that club IMO. If we can get the balance right with like you say, one or two stars imbedded into what we are already doing (young talent getting a good look in, a good English core to the group etc.) then that would be perfect.

Totally agree but if we could have a non-corrupt mega billionaire who loved Spurs from birth and wanted to indulge his passion by buying the best players in the world I’m not sure I could resist cheering him on. :D

Yep. I agree in the main. But we do need to be a little careful here. I dislike the 'buy success' approach as much as you. But of course it is relative. And are the means by which, say, joe lewis and tavistock gets/secures/develops their property pottfolio ethically removed from thfc? I am not so sure. The hidden lake project in Argentina seems a case in point, and at first sight looks like outright bullying of the local community. If that is indeed the case, we are surely bound up to it, even if at an 'indirect' level. I am happy to be corrected though!
