S**t Sunderland scored we played well for 10 mins we equalise then go back to S**t again.

I was hoping for something a little more enlightening than 'we were shit'. And don't say, 'we were REALLY shit'.

Oh well, not long before MOTD.

Hansen: 'What can I say, Gary? Spurs were shit'.

We did our usual trick of knocking it around among the back four. The centre of the pitch was far too crowded. Sunderland sat deep, Bent had no space to work with, on the odd occasion the ball was lumped up to him.

Bentley had a couple of shots in the first half, other than that we didn't create much. A few good corners, but nobody could get on the end of them.

Lots of 50-50 tackles that we lost.

Second half more of the same, if anything I thought we were even more disorganised, the midfield were all over the place, treading on each others toes, on the edge of the box. Huge space between them and the back four. Bent hardly touched the ball until sunderland scored. We had about 10 mins of pressure after which Jenas scored a scrappy one. Then we lost all urgency and appeared to be happy with a point, at which point they got down the wing, put a good cross in and Cisse headed home. In my opinion.

The end.

Ta. This is what I was worried about. Seems similar to the last game; teams may set up against us by allowing us the ball in front of them, nullifying Bent's threat by not allowing him to run onto balls. Meanwhile, our midfield gets sucked in, loses shape, and we're vulnerable to balls over the top.

Is that how it looks?

There MUST BE a certain 'ignorance' of the game at WHL. Whereas it was 'worrying' in recent years....it is NOW a JOKE. I LOVE Spurs, and always will, BUT I question how Levi (and Ramos etc) can honestly expect us, the Yid supporters, to sit back and believe! They are really taking us for a ride. I am, for the FIRST TIME in 40 years, ASHAMED to be associated with the club....not because we are BOTTOM of the league, but because we look like we are comfortable there. Levi is not exactly inexperienced in this predicament, having had ample opportunity in recent seasons. OK, so we know how to climb the League Table, in the period after Christmas....and we know how to 'cement' a TOP 10 finish.....Good enough for Blackburn who make us look like Championship Amateurs.
2 games, one at HOME, and we are on course to equal anything that MJ did, or failed to do. Ramos has a great record in La Liga, but this is the EPL. Is he able to guide us UP? I thought so but not right NOW. The players appear to be high quality but....as in other years, there is something 'not right' be it on the management side or in the dressing room. Ofcourse we will be treated to all kinds of excuses...Berbs apparent exit has upset the squad or....there were too many internationals AWAY this week....or some such tripe! The PLAIN truth is that our squad/Management team are NOT good enough to take us forward. Santini seems to have seen this EARLY in his time at the helm. MJ was happy to 'slog it out' and retain 5th place. Ramos has done nothing (in real football terms) apart from an impressive pre season (just like MJ). It seems that we are locked in a downward spiral, again, and this year it is worse than ever....RK/DB are as good as gone......and so are our goals. Bent is NOT good enough despite a great goal tally a few weeks ago. OLD NEWS....in the real world he is not top class....Good enough for England but.....not for a good team, as we were convinced we have (had?).
I feel worse than EVER now....the JOKE of the office, Bar, and even the baby minders association lol! This is a feeling that I have grown accustomed to over the years but.....it never feels this bad. I feel betrayed and let down by the people that I thought were my hero's. They are too well paid but they, clearly, have no idea of what it is to be a dedicated Spurs player. RK knew exactly the secret of success at WHL and was prepared to sweat blood if it meant that we could progress. There are few, now at WHL, who have that same fire in the belly and it is patiently obvious.
Yes, I am annoyed, as are ALL Yid's, and I am at the stage of total disillusion with what is happening to my team. I am too upset to look for a 'silver lining' but there has to be one....somewhere, doesn't there? Who cares anyway....Levi and Ramos don't seem to COYS!

And you thought Dublin were badEek

Guys in all honesty, are you not used to it by now?

I have faith in a lot of things, but Spurs arent one of them. Im reasonably optimistic we could finish 6th, but if we do get close to the big 4 they will just dismantle our team AGAIN, so please, be realistic

Yup. Unfortunately we have one guy up top. Thats a disadvantage in itself. But when your one striker is so linear in his abilities, its very easy for the opposition to thwart your tactics.

I honestly thought, with the creative players we have, that we would still be able to make plenty of opportunities. But they've failed to provide Bent with even one chance to score in the first two games. Add the fact that they're all lightweight, and it means we're screwed when we're not in possession, and toothless when we're in possession!

All these problems can be sorted, and on a good day, I think we will still be able to score a hat full.

The most worrying thing, is that it doesn't appear like Ramos has defined each players role. Too many times we were in bunches passing a yard apart, or alternatively the player in possession had nobody available to pass it too. Hence the hoof up to Bent every now and then.

I'm sure Ramos has told them numerous times what to do, but we just don't appear to be well drilled. And the high fitness levels he's famous for imposing, haven't been evident either.

All well and good in theory. In practise though there are a number of problems:

First, our scouting network have turned very few top drawer players who no-one else has noticed.

Second, our transfer policy seems geared toward only buying young players, possibly with the view to inflating their prices and then selling them. We haven't bought a player over the age of 27 since Edgar Davids unless I'm very much mistaken.

Thirdly, the standard of the French League is not anywhere near that of the Premier League, so gaps are easier to plug.

We have stalled and procrastinated and dicked around in the transfer market because Levy seems terrified of anyone thinking he's not a hard-nosed businessman. There have been instances where he's done well. I believe that we were right not to be held hostage over Arshavin. But he shouldn't have allowed Keane to leave, which further destabilised Berbatov.

Ah, fuck it. I'm tired of all this shit...

so we are agreed the scouting network ie. Comolli is to blame? I believe this is a universal thoery and can work. Sadly its something the scum down the road have tried but have failed because they lack the spending power to replace the stars they sold (due to the emirates). Regardless they are still in the top4 every season, have been to a CL semi twice and CL final aswell as Carling Cup and Fa Cup final. And once the stadium is paid off, well its quite worrying for us (yes I know they lost today). At the moment though that lack of spending makes them vunerable in 4th and we should be taking advantage...which is why everyone is so pissed

the substitution of Lennon wasn't right at the time for me. We should have kept him on for a bit longer, but in fairness as well, Lennon wasn't overly impressive either!

If there's anything Ramos did wrong, IMO, he should've sent the players out for the second half with them all walking out onto the pitch clutching their arses cause his foot should've been swinging for nearly all 11 backsides at half-time.

there's always next year no i dont have a northern rock mortgage as you put it, us caribbean folk always look on the bright side of life mate no matter what the circumstances..

the reasons i have 100% faith in ramos & levy is because i have seen the good old days with hoddle, waddle & co the bad times during the sugar 90's era up until levy took over and we have come a long way under his stewardship in the time him & enic have been running things that you cannot deny, we still have around 7-8 days of the window left & the season has just started so all is not bleak in my book.

...

But there again, we shouldn't be one-dimensional in our attacking; there were chances for Bentley, Giovani and Bale, I think.

Alex Ferguson could of got sacked as Utd manager early in his reign due to poor results. But they stuck with him and success came. Now i by no means wish to say Ramos will bring that sort of success but i do think people are too quick calling for managers heads nowadays.

This whole attack heavy squad idea does make me wonder, as in, Ramos at Sevilla never neglected the defensive part of the midfield, he had Poulsen, Keita and Renato all as capable, strong DM's. So i find it odd he would neglect it here. Not to point fingers at anyone but i dont see how a guy like Ramos who knows about the Prem's physicality, and has a track record of using defensive midfielders would just think we dont need one here....

warik i belive ramos is not so naive as some are making out & he will sign a defensive midfielder before the window closes.. if you look at the transfer activity of the premiership sides, this summer has to be one of the slowest in terms of movement so far.

The space in front of the back four is fucking laughable at times. The defense is left exposed time and time again, it's mind boggling.

Agree Totally!

But still the gap between Bent and the rest of the pitch was staggering! he won pretty much every ball played up to him but had no one to flick it on to.

Please God can we sign a striker (Or Two)?

So reading this thread, I'm just curious, will Nidge be boycotting the film Tropic Thunder? Its a funny film about these retarded actors, or actors who are retards, or I think maybe that they are so stupid that they are like retards. Anyway, it looks hilarious.

Marsha Brady is boycotting it, will Nidge?
