Tottenham head coach Juande Ramos has moved quickly to quash speculation over the future of Ledley King at White Hart Lane.

Ramos has issued a clarification after he was quoted on Thursday as saying "we'll have to wait and see if he is here next season" when discussing the injury-plagued player's captaincy at the club.

This led to intense speculation, but Ramos says he fully expects the player to be at Spurs at the start of next season.

The Spaniard told the club's official website on Friday: "Today's newspapers have made a great deal out of my comments concerning Ledley King, which were made in relation to him remaining as club captain next season.

"So there is no misunderstanding, Ledley is handling his recovery well and we fully expect him to be here at the start of next season"

This is twice this week that Juande has moved quickly and swiftly to help us fans understand the situation with our players - Berba and now King.

This is good management!

Ramos went off message in a press conference, so the club have published a "clarification" on the official site.

If you want to praise anyone praise Donna Cullen.

There is a reason they prefer Gus to speak to the press, and it is not just that his English is better.

(Martin Jol's frankness with the media seems to have contributed to his downfall as far as la Cullen was concerned.)

"I actually watched the Interview and i am Spanish, and to me this has been blown way out of proportion, he was was being non-comital when asked about all players who might be around next season (when he said about he knows who can do what now and can't learn anything new from this group)

and i think it was a joke when asked if Ledley would skipper next season he said he didn't know if he'd be here (but third hand jokes and long sentences by a translator don't always get the right response)

also this has heavily dilluted the Berba stories.

much ado about Nada ;)"

Right about Gus being the man to speak to the press.
Still the "clarification" is better than a kick in the teeth!
