Venables shouldn't be allowed anywhere near that list.

Pleat2 definitely has parallels to Redknapp , both taking over after a simmilar amount of games .

This time we've thrown real money at the situation .
Last time it was Michael Brown and hoping Ant and Doc were both fit .

It that context I think Pleat2 did a very good job of staving off relegation .

I only have vague memories of Venables as a starter and the rest i can judge better through the years. I'm a bit too young for a couple of those...

Jol - 8
Venables - 6
Graham - 7
Ramos - 6
Hoddle - 6
Redknapp - 7 so far
Francis - 7
Gross - 5
Santini - 5
Pleat 2 - 8
Ardilles - 6

i've rated them out of 10.

despite not winning anything with BMJ, surely just the magic that surrounded the club when martin was around is enough to put him 2nd behind Burkinshaw. Venables is a prat, but he was a good manager for us.... The rest have all been shocking, including Harry and Ramos

Seriously, shocking? He took over when we had 2 points from 8 games, we were absolute dogshit and he's had just 3 months so far to try and sort it out, and you rate him as shocking. We've got a fighting chance to get out of relegation that was pretty much certain if things hadn't changed. He's got a couple of great strikers back, a top rate number 2 and a beast in midfield who could turn out to be our best midfielder in years. We may have let in a few last minute goals, but losing became the norm before he took over and it takes a long time to get that sorted, and as it goes, we haven't lost to the 'big 4' this season. 3 months in and that's shocking is it?

I rate you as shocking. Absolutely typical of a lot of Spurs fans who have no patience at all and just expect glory because we're Spurs. If he still hasn't performed by this time next year, then have a pop and call him shocking, not after 3 months.

Redknapp has done a great job so far. And for those who rate Jol so highly like myself, he struggled in his first season himself. I think we lost about 6 games back to back at one point. And he got us a midtable finish. He then followed up with a 5th place finish. So theres no reason we cant have faith in Harry. Its only because we haven't been in great form of late that anyone is even questioning Harry at the moment. But the reality is, we were always going to hit another poor run after the great spell we had under Harry at first. But given a bit more time i'm sure we'll hit good form again before the end of the season. And that will see us push clear of the bottom three.

Agree. It's just the use of the word 'Shocking'. Absolutely no need for it. If people don't think he's been too good, then say that. But if anyone thinks he's actually been shocking after 3 months, which has seen us climb 5 places off the bottom (not great but better than bottom...), then it's just a bit stupid.

Has harry stolen your account?

I agree though. On the pitch Harry's done well and has a win percentage of 46% (after the Arsenal game) which is better than Jol's 45%. On the transfer front, he's managed to sign players that fill gap in our team and it seems like a long time since we've done that. It's too soon to say he's been a good manager for Spurs but there defintely isn't enough evidence to say he's shocking. If we avoid relegation I'd say he's completed his objectives for this year and I'm very much looking forward to the future under Harry.

I hate that Redknapp keeps bringing that up everytime we lose.

Jol had won 1 game out of 10 (and that was against Derby) when he got sacked.

Redknapp managed 3 points from 6 games through late December and January.

Burkinshaw tops my list, he won things and that’s what counts on the role of honour.
Followed by :
Venables FA cup winner
Graham / Ramos League cup winners
Pleat league position and F A cup finalist
Jol highest league position for years
Hoddle / Redknapp league cup finalists.(so far)
Everyone else much of a muchness.

Yep, but the difference is that Jol's bad run was with the team he built. Redknapp's wasn't. I know we had a bundle of great players when Harry arrived, but the fact is they were performing like idiots under Ramos. I think Redknapp has obviously yet to prove if he can manage at a club like ours, but he definitely needs until after the summer at least before people can really judge him. If we stay up, i assume he'll buy 2 or 3 more players in positions we need, so at the end of next season (even then is too early in my opinion), we should see if he's our man or not.

Edit: Re Jol, that probably should read 'the team he and Comolli built'.

Not entirely true. He took the reigns on the back of several straight losses under Santini and then lost his first home game 3-2 to Charlton after throwing on Carrick at half time when we were three down and were unlucky not to snatch a point.

From what I remember if the league table was taken from the point he took over in that first season we were the 4th best team in the division.

And i hated when Ramos used to say that the players were unmotivated after the cup final last year. But it was his job to motivate players. Then, we followed the dismal end of last season with an even worse start to this season. Last year had to be the worst League year we've had since the Premier League began.

At least Redknapp has had a good run of form to speak of. Of course, that wont mean anything until he turns our current form around. Only time will tell.
