In the PL?

Also, assists are meaningless, only of interest to fantasy football leaguers.

Yup. Davies’ assist today was entirely meaningless. Nothing impressive about that cross at all.
Wanyama makes a challenge deep in our half, wins the ball. Short pass to Dier. Dier to Eriksen, still in our half. Blinding 30 yard pass to Son, touches the ball to Kane, who buries it from 20 yards.

Who has made the assist?

Who has created the goal?

Who deserves the most credit?

Dominated Arsenal from start to finish, deserved to win by a cricket score, everyone had a good came generally (including both subs enjoying a good innings) with even our worst performers playing well. Dembele motm

pointing out that we dont have a stat to measure every contribution isnt the same as proving a stat we do have meaningless.

Lamela jinks past 6 players to get into the box and lays it of for Kane who has and easy tap in

Who has made the assist?

Who deserves the most credit?

If you're using that an example as a basis of your argument "assists are meaningless" then you really are a lost cause.

Its a team goal, but saying assists don't matter as a stat is a little naive. Davies' today was an excellent delivery,

That's not an answer, is it?

You clearly don't understand the question being asked.

I'll try to explain it to you, as an assist to the hard of thinking.

An "assist" is judged by the last touch by an attacking player before a goal is scored.

It is meaningless because the actual creator of the chance isn't referenced unless they had that last touch before the goal being scored.

Happy to help.

Only in the sea.

Bro, you're allowed to Doh or otherwise once in a thread. That's without a reply explaining your own view.

Because then you're just an utter lazy reactionary prick. That you, bro? Cos it sound just like you.
I don't have avatars visible when I browse so that I don't have a preconceived idea of who's posting and can judge each post accordingly.

I went through the match thread rating posts as I made my way through, and it just so happened that you kept prattling on about Lamela getting yellow cards and claiming assists don't matter. I didn't go to your profile, open all of your recent posts and rate them negatively.

As for "you're allowed to Doh or otherwise once in a thread" - says who? You said multiple things deserving of said rating.

I'll assume 1961 isn't your year of birth.

That's exactly what I am not saying.

I'm differentiating between that, an exemplar of an "assist", as opposed to a player dribbling the ball from their own half, beating a few players, then passing it on to a player on the edge of the box, who then plays it a few yards to the scorer.

Your assumption may be wrong.

I'm assuming you're not having the values of a slot, nor being in anyway having the characteristics of a badger.

I do see that you're quite happy to give it out, and then run squealing to a mod, when it gets given back to you. That is certainly unlike a badger. More like a bodger.

More like an Arse, than a Spur.

Try an intelligent reply, mate. I know it takes effort, but try.

I'll then do my best to reply with an intelligent response.

Rich coming from someone who said assists only matter to FL managers. But if insults is the best you can manage in your argument then so be it.

You are clearly someone who knows fcuk all about football and your gibberish is equivalent of an idiot trying to sound clever.

If assists didn't matter then nobody would sign wingers or creative midfielders because their assists wouldn't be worth it.

But let's just change our formation to 9-1 so you have 1 striker and 9 other players who do not create goals. Maybe they just defend and Kane creates his own chances
