Anybody know what happens if both Besiktas and ourselves finish the group on the same points with identical goals for and against ? How would they decide who tops the group ?

Alphabetical? We could become Aardvark Hotspur FC.

The teams are ranked according to points (3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss). If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings:[1]

  1. higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question;
  2. superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question;
  3. higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question;
  4. higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question;
  5. If, after applying criteria 1 to 4 to several teams, two teams still have an equal ranking, criteria 1 to 4 are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the two teams in question to determine their final rankings. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria 6 to 8 apply;
  6. superior goal difference from all group matches played;
  7. higher number of goals scored from all group matches played;
  8. higher number of coefficient points accumulated by the club in question, as well as its association, over the previous five seasons.

I respectfully disagree with all those who say the manager can't be responsible for what happens on the field. Sure, a player slips, the ref makes a poor decision, etc. But tactics AND motivation are absolutely down to the manager. Those are arguably the two main reasons behind success in anything but especially in sports. Honestly while there maybe the odd player who only cares about the money most care about their success, performance and pride. The key to being a great leader is to motivate. Think about your own lives. Bet you did best (or worked hardest) in the class taught by your favorite teacher or performed best for the manager who inspired you. Its not rocket surgery but it is brain science.

I like the terms "rocket surgery" and " brain science".

He was good yesterday. And when he came on against Villa. He's probably our most improved player this season.
Rose is miles out in front in the Most Improved stakes this season, but it's nice to see Andros on the way back into some kind of form.

I voted for Vorm as man of the match because he did nothing wrong and without his saves in the second half we would have left with nothing from the game.
Yes Townsend won and converted (really well) the penalty and his cross was scored from by Kane and was maybe a close second.
But without MV's splendid saves they would have won the game because momentum was definitely with Asteras in the second half and his good work kept them at bay..
