Really feel like the graft of Richy and Deki supplied a platform for us tonight. Yeah they’re not as clinical as Sonny and Maddison but they do a lot of the hard yards. Richy chipping in with another assist as well
I thought Deki’s level really, really dropped towards the end. One nice nutmeg, but lost the ball a lot

Ange was so pissed off with Richy, when he gave the ball away by trying to trap it on his back.

He said the second half was our worst 45mins of the season, due to lack of movement and loose in possession. Although he said our off the ball was “elite”.

Richy needs to start to hit the target, although some of his crosses are dangerous, and passing around the box is good. He needs to start scoring.

Romero was immense. Strangely, he seemed to be playing injured throughout, at least to my eyes, he just didn't seem himself.

But then he was imperious, go figure.

Vic is just so good.

Udogie fantastic.

VDV a little shaky at times tonight.

Porro, great game

Madison is just so so good

The rest were all ok.

I really enjoyed our football tonight, we could, and should have had more from the game.

Yeah, nailed it tbh.

Thought PEH put in a good shift, great tracking back and block when Fulham could have scored late on. Richy put in a lot of work at both ends and was much improved despite the usual handful of terrible shots.:

We allowed an unnerving number of good chances in the last 15-20 mins. Lo Celso seemed very keen and engaged, which was encouraging, and linked up pretty well. When we have to make subs it gets a bit wobbly still.

MOTM - The Tottenham one

Romero was excellent as well, maintained his level when the rest around him dropped off

Romero pips it over PEH.
Context is important here… outside of the Milk Cup debacle versus Fulham, Pierre hasnt started a game for us. He was also filling in for one of our most important players. And I thought he did really well. Protected the back four, kept the ball going forward, and made some lovely passes. He was smart in not trying to ‘replace’ what Biss does, as he can’t take the ball on the half turn and dribble past two players to breakdown a press. Instead he lent into his own strengths and played hard in a team that is well settled, only after 8 games. Dude deserves a ton of credit where due.

Richy was poor with his finishing and often with his touch. But I admired his work rate! He tired out their fullback. That’s why Johnson came on, but he looked scared. Understandable given the tentative nature of returning from hamstring injuries. Think Ange would be doing him a big favor in playing him in his favored spot: RWF. Until he is confident in his body again.

Sorry Bryan didn’t get anytime. Guessing we will see him against Palace.

Overall it was an above average team performance. The truth is, we didn’t get out of third gear. Didn’t need to,

Maddison, Romero outstanding but I’ve got Porro as my MOTM as thought he put in a brilliant shift.

Vicario two fantastic saves that saved the blushes as Fulham were never really in the game.

Son quality, Richy good first half but been said so many times he needs to finish.

Udogie is just so good, got beaten once and you knew he was mad at himself. VDV just Another solid game.

Kulu just not at his best today and wasteful. PEH was very efficient and played a couple of nice balls. Sarr, what a great run to put in that defensive header, not at his best but always showing for the ball.

Subs good to get a run, think we saw Skipp might struggle and Gio might kick on.

Not at our best particularly in second half but dispatched Fulham comfortabl.

Lots of candidates for best player of the season and biggest surprise… but I have to say, Porro has been the player that has surprised me the most,

Of course we knew what Biss was capable of based on his time at Brighton. Same with Maddison with the Foxes. We didn’t know as much about Udogie, VdV and Vicario, other than they were highly rated. We saw glimpes of Sarr last season. But ‘you know who’ didn’t fancy him. But based on the Madrid game you could clearly see his potential.

Porro is the oddity. Came in as an apparent tailor made RWB. Spent big on him to back Conte. And man did he (and Perisic for that matter) struggle massively with the defensive part of the game.

Then comes in a manager who plays a back 4, and my immediate conclusion was that Royal would be first choice, and if Porro had to play, we would be in a spot of bother.

But my goodness… his transformation has been borderline miraculous. Never would have thought he could not just be proficient in that role, but excel. He has yet to have an average or below average game since he has been starting. He has formed a brilliant understanding with Romero and Deki. He is also fearless.

He seems to take as much joy in making a good defensive play, as an assist or a goal.

The lad‘s metamorphosis into a baller has been understated. Right now, he is one of the top five RBs in the league. Same with Udogie on the left. We struck gold with one, and made a diamond from a piece of coal from the other.

Vic - 8

Porro -8
Romero - 8
VdV - 7
Udogie - 7

Sarr - 6 (this it was the worst I’ve seen him play this season )
PEH - 8.5 (MoM)

Richy - 6
Madders - 8
Deki - 7

Son -8

Poor old VdV(7)...First the commentator took his brilliant interception away for 2nd goal...and then Ange did in the presser. PEH (7) happy tho. Ange was also wrong imo when he said Fulham didn't change 2nd half. They came fast out of the gate, pressing and attacking as they were behind 1-0.

Yep to poster above re Porro(8) incredible improvement on his first games for us.

Not sure I've ever given a ten...but Romero(10) what can you say ? I LOVE his vertical passing particularly.

Looks a little like- shut down Madders(8) and we don't score and certainly if Sonny(8) is shut down too. We need a new forward that can score. Ange checking out Veliz (N/A) atm. No sign yet of another Ange miracle with him.

As some said in Match thread, the drop in quality from 1st 11 to subs was pretty steep. As 1st Cup match vs Fulham showed Ange...er...style (Grrr) works with great players, but without them..it doesn't.

So many good performances it's difficult to pick one player out. Even though Richy and Deki didn't set the place alight, they both put in a huge shift. Porro and Udogie are absolutely tearing it up now. Romero and Micky have formed a fabulous partnership. Vicario makes some incredible saves. PEH deputized superbly for the irreplaceable Bissouma. Sonny's goal was routine for him which = unbelievable for most strikers. My MOM is Maddison who was at the heart of everything (again) and was everywhere at the same time. The only thing that takes it away from Romero is his habit of dawdling on the ball which seems to kill momentum imo. Other than that he was a colossus.

I thought Sarr was excellent. He, Romero, Van de Ven, Porro, Maddison and Vicario were the stand outs.
We should have won that game 5/6-0.

My summary;

Romero, Vicario, Maddison, Sarr all v good.
VDV, PEH, Porro, Udogie, Son, Kulu all good.
Richy good without the ball. Not so good with it.
Thought Royal did well when he came on too.

Well pleased.
Ange's play-book requires a team effort and this was yet another.
Sloppy at the start of the second half
and a better team might have drawn it.
Vicario (7+) made the essential saves when required
VDV and Romero solid as Gibraltar 8+
Cuti my MOM.so calm and deliberate
Hojbjerg slotted in nicely alongside Sarr (Both 7)
Porro (7) playing with confidence
Son and Maddison enjoying themselves (8)
2 goals and an assist between them.
Kulu and Richarlison busy and effective but no cigar (6+)

The old Spurs would have blown this opportunity
but Ange's instilled a greater sense of purpose.
I thought the withdrawel of Son and Maddison was a bit premature
but we saw it out though Wilson should have scored.
Skipp ain't gonna make it I'm afraid..

A Ledleyish performance from Romero today.

Has Vicario done anything wrong so far this season?

Madders is so Spurs it's ridiculous. Born to play for us.

Richi was good today. I don't want to detract from that but oh my gosh he's bad in front of goal right now. He really can't hit a barn door and it is getting seriously worrying. A player in his position has to test the keeper.
Funnily enough said exactly the same about Romero. Looked prime Ledley. Stayed on his feet. Almost the entire match and when he did have to go to ground his timing was perfect. It seems giving him responsibility has made his all round game go up another level.
