If any of our four strikers were actually anticipating that our key passer might ever pass to them and thus want to move at any point, rather than shamefully stand on their heels and then chase after passes that had cut open the defence, more of Carroll's passes would have "come off". There was only one pass slightly overhit from the kid while he was on, and he moved so well to receive and keep the tempo. Definitely Man of the Match, which says it all when he was only on the pitch for 25 minutes.

If we sign a striker with a brain, I reckon Carroll would be one of the first names on our team sheet.

Since they've played togethr for ages and both been very successful, I'd suggest Carroll would combine well with Kane and Obika.

Oh sorry Kane's already been written off by most people here...

Carroll 9- Passing was superb.

Lloris, Dawson, Vertonghen, Naughton, Dembele, Caulker 4- Invisible
Dempsey 3- Did a good job of imitating Defoe. Only needed shots at the keeper whilst standing in front of him for a carbon copy.
Bale 2- Greedy, wasteful, cocky edit: passing was horrendous.
BAE 1- Mindless.
Parker 0- Can't find his teammates if they stood next to him.
Defoe -1 - Can't find the net if he were the keeper.
Ade -2 - Can't find the pitch if he were on it.

Didn't see much of the game as my stream was about as good as some of Parker's ratings?

Was he that bad though as i still heard a rendition of "Super Scott" in one of the brief periods i had sound/picture
The fans sang his name after he just had a shot, and made a tackle. But bare in mind it was still 0-0 and the fans clearly were trying to gee him up. Overall he was pretty poor, our lack of a decent playmaker has given him the urge to get forward and try and play passes and failing.

At least he got himself in scoring positions and got 2 shots on target. Ade did less in 90 mins than Defoe did in 20.

Defoe had 28 minutes on the pitch and touched the ball 7 times. His two strikes were woeful attempts at finishing and Ade worked hard but also did fuck all.

In short we need new strikers in the summer that know where the back of the net is.

Problem is, as much as I like the look of Carroll. Where does he fit in a 4-2-3-1 system?

I could potentially see him in a 4-3-3 lined up next to Dembele and Sandro though. (Maybe next season?)

Could solve our playmaker problems and allow us to splash out big time for a striker

i thought the Wigan game would be the last 0-1 where we couldn't break down a team that would be happy with a point at the Lane.
Sadly, Berba showed what a difference a class striker could make.
Even sadder we played better over in Milan.
Hopefully the two week break will give AVB plenty of time to see where he's been getting it wrong of late.
Since Walker's stupid back pass set up Liverpool we've had a 1-7 streak. Things can certainly only get better.

Lloris 6 - not much to do.

Naughton 6 - decent defensively but clueless going forward. Especially in the second half when Bale was looking for him overlapping ... only for Naughton to still be stood on the sodding half way line, grrr.

Dawson 6 - kept Fulham quiet in the 1st half. A loss when he went off injured.

Caulker 3 - a liability. He went walkabout in the 1st half and lost the ball. He gave the ball away on at least 2 occasions in the second half in dangerous situations. He lost Hangeland ... who somehow missed the goal. Oh and Berbatov owned him.

Vertonghen 5 - decent enough 1st half but looked knackered in the second and was very sloppy.

Ekotto 3 - out of position but completely anonymous in the 1st half. He got forward more from left back than the left wing in the second half but his crossing was generally dross.

Parker 3 - 1 decent tackle, other than that he constantly gave the ball away.

Dembele 5 - average 1st half, faded badly in the second but was still a class above Parker.

Sigurdsson 4 - 2 rubbish efforts at goal in the 1st half and did bugger all in the second.

Bale 5 - Our only attacking threat but other than the 1 late run was poor. In his defence though, he was clearly injured.

Adebayor 5 - made himself available and ran around, which is all good but he doesn't look like scoring again anytime soon.

Defoe 2 - useless. Decent turn when he came on but shot straight at the keeper. Then in typical Defoe fashion ... bearing down on goal, 6 yards of empty net to aim at and he shoots straight at the bloody keeper.

Dempsey 2 - waste of space. What did he do? Studded Karagounis and tried to shoot from 30 yards out with his back to goal ... needless to say, his effort didn't trouble the goal.

Carroll 6 - our only sub to look interested. Kept his head up and played a couple of nice balls. However, a little over eager at times.

AVB - 0 YES, A BIG FAT F*CKING ZERO. Awful tactics and team selection.

Lloris - 6 - What can he do?
Naughton - 5 - Behind his man for the goal, didn't get forward enough
BAE - 4 - Sloppy, Casual, wasteful in posession, didn't get forward enough
Dawson - 5 - Where was he for the goal?
Caulker - 5 - Where was he for the goal?
Vertonghen - 7 - Tried to push us forward, our best starter
Parker - 4 - Ran around a lot, tackled well after he lost the ball, lost the ball a lot, lost the ball when he tried to pass, did I mention he lost the ball a lot?
Dembele - 6 - played well but was easily crowded out due to lack of movement
Bale - 5 - He just wasn't up for it today - needs to start on the left
Sigurdsson - 5 - Needs to start in the centre
Adebayor - 6 - Worked harder than usual, but toothless and out of ideas in the final third

Dempsey - 4 - Ineffective as always
Defoe - 5 - Arms up in the air when people don't pass to him regardless of the shit positions he gets himself into, needs to stretch defences, not come deep.
Carroll - 8 - Breath of fresh air, great passing, URGENCY. MOM.

Lloris..............6..Did he actually make a save? Or a catch? Couple of sweeps.
Naughton........6..Didn't fuck up but crossing was poor.
Dawson...........6..Was Ok until injured. One misplaced kaboomer
Caulker...........6..Bit laborious on the ball but ok basically.
Verts ..............6..Bit lethargic. Needs a rest which happily he will get.
Sig..................5..I like him but not today.
Parker.............4.. Couple of decent passes and then a dozen poor ones. Never liked him, still don't
Dembele..........5..Too slow moving and thinking. A one trick pony that needs re-hooving
Benny..............4..Left back or nowhere. Preferably the latter.
Bale.................5.. Some decent passes and movement but not at his best. good assist for Defoe's miss. (?)
Ade..................6..Worked hard but needs to be closer to the danger zone.
Dempsey...........4..Not good enough. Made little impact.
Defoe...............3..I hope we can get a couple of bob for him at the end of the season.
Carroll..............7..Keen to impress, showed for the ball good movement and applies his brain.
...........................showed up his seniors today. Should start next game.
AVB..................4..Being too clever for our own good. Too many players out of position. No spirit in the team today.

Groundhog March. Our annual capitulation appears to be rearing its ugly head. This was Norwich at home, Wigan at home, etc, etc, all over again. I've seen this game before I'm sure.

The ultimate European hangover. Not necessarily a physical hangover but certainly a mental one. Or maybe a bit of both. The team AVB picked looked disjointed and it proved to be the case. I half see his intentions with Benny a bit further forward but the guy is so fuckin casual he doesn't really offer anything playing at LM other than happening to be left footed. How pedestrian was our midfield? Our starting midfield today would have finished last in the Sports day relay race and that's taking it for a given that they would have got the baton round.

Needing a goal and having to bring on Dempsey and Defoe is a perilious state of affairs. The overall movement of Dempsey, Defoe and Ade was criminal. I would dock wages for half arsed shifts like that.

A worrying glimpse of what happens when Bale's matchwinners dry up. The stark truth is that we create very, very little and when we do its rare one of our uber-forwards will put it away.

Horrible performance. We need a reaction. Quickly.

Lloris - 6 - Nothing to do apart from pick it out of the net.

Naughton - 6 - Marked up for the fact he's a right back who didn't cost us a goal.

Verts - 5 - Out of position at LB. His touch was off today.

Caulker - 5 - Need top rewatch the goal but not totally sure what he was doing

Dawson - 5 - Injured.

Benny - 4 - Pulled up his deckchair for most of the game. Barely broke sweat.

Siggy - 3 - Did nothing of note apart from his usual right foot curly wurly shot into the Paxton a couple of times.

Dembele - 4 - So obviously knackered. AVB should have had Tommy C start and have Moussa as an option. Chugged around a bit.

Parker - 4 - I suppose I'll see people tell me how PArker's our heartbeat again. Instead I'll tell you how he put in another abject display. Sandro Lite.

Bale - 5 - Huffed and puffed. People ripping into him because he didnt dig us out of another hole with a worldie. He wont do it every week. Someone else needs to take on some of the workload.

Ade - 4 - Ran around a bit but never, ever looks like scoring. Has even stopped anticipating through balls as we don't have any one to deliver them.

Dempsey - 2 - Might as well have played with 10 men. The ultimate scuffer. Not sure I've ever seen him cleanly strike a ball.

Defoe - 2 - Toe-Punt Tony had two chances and decided to pick the keeper out both times. Oh to have a striker who can pick his spot rather than try to drill it through defenders/keepers/team members.

Carroll - 6 - Should start the next game.MoM but thats not saying much.
