Gave it to Porro who defended well but more importantly took the initiative and put in a dangerous cross from the right(which had been sorely lacking from both flanks) to create our winner.

VdV, Porro, Romero were all shared MoM.

Truth is, that is probably the worst we have played this season. I think I saw more misplaced passes in the first 30 mins, than in our previous six games combined.

If we had been playing on par to our previous performances, we would have clobbered them.

In the end, it wasn’t about Liverpool’s stout defense. It was about our lack of creativity and passivity through long passages of the game.

It was fitting the goal game from a Porro cross, as he and the aforementioned defenders, along with Kulu, played with the most intensity today. The lad has come on leaps and bounds.

This was a tough call, given the nature of the game - but ultimately decided to go with Udogie, on the strength of going up against Saka and Salah in back-to-back games, picking up a 1st half yellow twice, and still managing to keep both in check.

I am not sure there is a LB in the league right now who is playing better.

Think this is right

Despite having a good scoring record, and not such a good defensive record, we have more questions going forward than in defence IMO.

Teams will play the low block with us - it’s clearly an Achilles heel - and look to get us on the break. We need an answer to that quite quickly

Vdv was just amazing today. Porro a very, very close second for me. Udoghi a very close 3rd.

Very special mentions for Vicario, Bissouma and Romero.

Van de Ven.
Porro, Biss, Romero, Udogie all class.

On my stream Lee Dixon was co-commentating and even he was like "wow I had no idea he (Micky) was THAT quick" and later with similar surprise in his voice "He's been immaculate all game"

One criticism of Romero (and Bissouma to a lesser degree) is that they were both very slow on the ball later in the game when we should really have been giving them the run around and stretching play as much as possible. They managed to conserve a lot of energy that way. Hojbjerg immediately started spraying the ball around when he came on which surprised me a bit, but maybe Ange gave him those instructions.

I agree, and I got very frustrated watching it at the time. However, I find it really easy to forgive considering the odd circumstances and Liverpool being forced to sit in the lap of Alison.
