Conte's system allows you to be sloppy on the ball and waste possession?

Im all for the absorbing of pressure and breaking on the counter, but when you have what little possession this system allows, you need to make full use of it instead of just passing it back to the opponent.
Agree entirely. We didn’t look great today at times not because of the system but because of sloppy passing. At one point in the game they showed a graphic that our successful passing was 75% which is unacceptable for a top tier team.

A few observations. Thought Dier was a bit off colour, especially first half. Not a problem because we kept them at bay, in no small part due to Sanchez who did really well. Passing was pretty sloppy for long periods and Hojbjerg and Bentancur struggled to get a grip in midfield, but a lot of that was a knock on from poor balls into them. Again, they both put in a huge shift though. Would like to see Lenglet get his chance to improve our chances of building from the back. Richarlison coming on again highlighted the lack of movement and energy up front previously. Yes, he's running at tired legs, but he really puts himself about and makes stuff happen. Perisic is class.

My MOM goes to Davinson Sanchez. Romero's got a fight on his hands for that position, but Sanchez is also very handy to cover for Dier at some point.

Weirdly, with 2 goals that won the match, Kane is a contender for MOTM. Personally however I think he was way off it yesterday. The ball was bouncing off him, his distribution was a little off (think of Son's handball when he was in, that pass was underhit), he scuffed the first one in and missed a one on one and a penalty which he didn't strike well enough. Having said that, imagine how good he is, that he was "off" and still scored 2.

I think Sanchez was MOTM. I think that's nearly 10 hours without conceding a goal with him in the team. That's a great stat. Arguably, Dier's position could be considered when Romero is back as he was a little lost yesterday, diving in here there and everywhere.

I agree about Davinson, however, listening to conte comments after the game I think Romero is a shoe in when he's back. Conte was saying he's really happy with Sanchez, but he must cut out moments where he lacks concentration. I think the word were something like 'too relaxed' in certain situations.

No doubt though, Sanchez has improved and is a great player to have in the squad, as games come thick and fast

Fair comment, but I think things even up a fair bit when you take into account Romero flirting with red cards which is something Davinson doesn't do. Romero though is a shoe in for RCB but he's always going to walk a thin line which one day he won't get away with.

I agree with you about Sanchez 100%, he's a great man to have standing in the wings waiting for Romero to get injured or suspended, but the reality of it, is that we've got a £40 million asset right there who won't be getting enough game time and I just wonder if the club might decide to cash him in to balance the books a little. I hope to God I'm wrong because I think Davinson has come on leaps and bounds since he arrived. We always hear the same thing about him always having a mistake in him, but so too does every defender on earth.

I think PEH was very good.

I also think he looks consistently better this season because of the arrival of Bissouma.

Just looks even more determined.

I think another important factor that has helped Sanchez has been the improvement re Emerson's play on the right. There was a time, not too long ago, when that Sanchez/Royal combo looked decidedly iffy.

I also think we'll see much improvement in our overall play as a team when Romero returns. And that isn't a knock on Sanchez at all; he's been very effective as a stand in. It's more a testament to Romero's talent and what he gives the team.

Kanes had a poor game and even the goals - the first one it was a poor contact but its bobbled in the right direction and in, and the second laid on a plate by richi and the wandering forest defenders, but scoring them nonetheless is important for his momentum/confidence.

Hoping Son can scuff one (or three) in vs the spammers to kick start his season.

I think He'll get plenty of game time this season, which will hopefully be enough to keep him / the club happy. As will lenglet once he's upto speed. Its a long season and we are just about to enter the 2 games a week phase. Hopefully the strength in depth will keep the side stronger over the course and the players happy. ?

Agreed that Sanchez had a solid game when we’re being attacked- but he’s always sending simple balls out to throw ins and always pass the ball back to lloris when he should start the building of an attack.

to scared of the ball/to little composure on ball, for my like.

but a great asset to come in when dier/romero is injured- but nothing more.

but thats just my onion.

as for the game:
Don’t like this tactic to sit deep against fucking forest.
We could have been in serious trouble had they had more luck on the final ball.

Ok against the top teams- but wish we controlled the games more with possession against the lower clubs.

thought Kulu was our best player- and always trying to cause problems, though not much final product.

really want bissoma and Richy to come in, but not sure who to drop of the two pivots.
Son needs a rest just to get him a little reset. Need to use our depth for the greater good of our team - doesn’t mean “dropping” but rotating?

but most important is the 10 points for now.

id like to see Dave with Romero on one side and Lenglet on the other (so that they have responsibility for ball carrying) maybe for the Fulham game?

I think so. Lack of movement from our superstars.

Conte did say that often the talented players get a little lazy..but then went on to say Harry is not like that.

When Rich comes on it highlights the issue of lack of movement as he brings sudden energy .
