I actually thought that Kane, despite two goals, was generally off the pace today and was often caught in possession or had shots blocked by being too laid back. He also missed a penalty (very poor by his standards - 1m inside the post and perfect height for keeper).

Sanchez was very good, but I think Højbjerg shaded it over the 90 minutes.

Only coming on here now and surprised at ratings - I thought Hojbjerg was clearly the standout player today. Richy with another good cameo and Kane good overall (if a little wasteful).

Kane mom because he won us the game.
Sanchez was fantastic.
Richarlson the perfect man to bring on to see out a game, totally distracts the opposition, makes them lose concentration, is a total menace and runs he's bollocks off, fantastic .

Sanchez should keep he’s place when Romero comes back
I had Sanchez as MOTM today. I also thought he had a very good game last outing. He's still nowhere near threatening Romero as first choice. Sanchez has done very well defensively but our transition and linkup play has suffered with Romero's absence.

Kane gets my vote as the match winner but happy to see Bentancur with some votes. Think the amount of pressing he does can go unnoticed, often does the job of 2 players on the press.

Sanchez great. Forest had no one who can shoot so we escaped again being totally outplayed. We need to improve quickly or someone will stuff us
Can you name 2 clear cut chances they had, but were let down by poor finishing? I only remember one header, and that wasn't a sitter.

They finished with an xg under 1 where as ours was just under 3. That shows they didn't create many/ any clear cut opportunities.

Conte ball isn't pretty or expansive but it's solid, and effective.

This isn't a popular opinion, but I also find our matches exciting. The way we play creates jeopardy, which is always exhilarating. It's a false sense of jeopardy imo, as we're confident in our defensive structure, but it's there.

One sided possession football bores me, but admittedly my heart would prefer a boring, comfortable, controlled victory.

goes to show the standards for this guy, for his standards it was poor, if this was a match for any other striker would be deemed a great one

Sanchez motm. He looked superb. This is a defender that will forever be blamed for everything. I can't believe the amount of comments where the poster was scared Sanchez was on the ball out on the pitch during this game. Fcuking ridiculous.

Conte needs to seriously become more flexible. If Forest had better attackers then they win. We can't concede the middle of the park. We have to control the engine room.

Don't win it without richarlision enough said
absolutely. this had 1-1 written all over it.
he changed the pattern of the game.

hojbjerg and bentancur were again good, again out numbered in this system.
incidentally was bentancur formally concussed? Does this mean he misses the next couple of games?

Lloris goalkeeping faultless, distribution really poor.

Back five did the job albeit shakey at times, Dier quietly did well, Davinson solid performance.

Bentancur allows us to play with an outnumbered midfield because of the ground he covers and calm distribution. Hojberg solid some great balls but equally as many wasted.

Front three were poor and wasteful in keeping possession, seems harsh but Kane was average and landed two goals, Son was poor again and could have had two. Kulu lots of effort but not much end product.

Ricarlison another good cameo mixed with energy and a bit of quality for the Kane goal. Sess did well apart from butchering his break.

can’t help thinking if we play like that against steam with more teeth we might be in trouble. Still 2-0 away in what looked like a cauldron of home support with us looking average and wasteful can’t be bad.

But we weren’t outplayed.
That’s Conte’s system; sit deep, draw them onto you and then exploit the space they leave in behind them. It can be a bit nerve racking and makes the other team appear better than they may actually be but Conte has faith that his defensive shape will hold and that we have the pace and attacking prowess to cause the opposition problems.

Gave it to Sanchez as I thought he was our best defender. Plus because I get tired of people criticizing him and stating we should replace him with someone better when he is doing everything that is being asked of him.
Some people can’t watch a game without having digs at their favorite scapegoat.

8 - Hojbjerg (MOTM), Kulu, Sanchez
7 - Kane (for the goals)
6 - everyone else

Hojbjerg - very underrated member of the team, and puts in brilliant through balls which is rarely appreciated.

Sanchez - excellent defending for 2 games on the trot.

Kulu - everytime he gets the ball, we always feel something spectacular will happen.

Special mention to Richie. Did more than what Son did all game.

Conte's system allows you to be sloppy on the ball and waste possession?

Im all for the absorbing of pressure and breaking on the counter, but when you have what little possession this system allows, you need to make full use of it instead of just passing it back to the opponent.
