Ok, the title of this thread is slightly misleading. I'm not suggesting that we should hire Rednapp in particular. My point is simply that under Ramos we aren't playing well, and indeed haven't been playing well for months on end. I understand that we've brought in new players and they need time to aclimatise. But... at the end of the day we're playing pretty awful football and not gaining points....so... either the manager we currently have needs to turn it around, or we need to get a new manager. At this point I have to lay my cards on the table. I think we need a new manager. Why? , well we aren't wining games, we don't look like winning games and players who were previously pretty useful are looking poor.

So , given that most of the mangers around the world which would seem like "top class" hires are either unavailable or not doing so well ( ie mr Klinsmann ) would we not be better of looking slightly closer to home and looking at proven premiership managers. At this point Rednapp enters my argument. Personally I think he plays Spurs style football, he's as genuine as you're likely to get in this day and age and I think he would absolutely fall over himself to get a job like Spurs. That last point in my opinion is half the battle won... having a manager who would practically die to make our team better. I think we had that in Martin Jol, and I don't think we have that in Juande Ramos, Harry Rednapp... I think he would absolutely slaughter himself to make us a better team,

I must add that this isn't an attempt to see Ramos out, it's simply a theory of who we could hire should he go

Why not Alan Curbishley then with Teddy Sheringham as his no 2.

because imo cursbishley plays the dullest brand of football you're ever likely to find.... Rednapp on the other hand plays football that would sit well with our "dreams" I think. I mean , half his sodding team is ex spurs, he plays attacking football with a slightly devil may care attitude about defence...he is your perfect spurs manager :)

But Curbs would keep us in mid table at least, surely thats better than relegation?

Sad as it is to say he'd probably do alot better than Ramos currently is.

Not sure I could cope with that corrupt hypocritical twitching face of his at the Lane though.

Agree with the point though Rich. Personally, if Ramos goes, then I'd like to see a more back to basics manager coming in. Mark Hughes was linked recently and I'd like that sort of personality I think.

Think it's a bit early to be talking about Ramos replacements though.

I disagree that he would "fall over himself to get a job like Spurs", I think that's way too optimistic about our standing these days.

Plus you do know he was brought up as an Arsenal supporter don't you?

Probably why his son has no affection for us whatsoever, even though he played for us.

Good point, why would Harry want the Spurs job when his Pompey side are in europe and in a lot better position then us, yeah they had a sticky spell a week back, but then they played us and soon got back to winning ways. If I was Harry, i'd stay down south in a job he was made for, not become the next manager to take the poison chalice of Tottenham.

Curbishley can't play any duller than we are right now. Not that I would like him as manager, but if we did get him I wouldn't foist an ex-Spurs player like Sheringham on him, managers should choose their own staff. Poyet as assistant now is another shining example of boardroom meddling in first team affairs, I see little reason why so many would get rid of Ramos yet keep Poyet, as he has done nothing to suggest he is any more competent, or in fairness incompetent than Ramos.

Assistant Managers are there to Assist the Manager, the clue is in the title. Therefore he is not going to add something spectacular to the equation, merely facilitate achieving the managers wishes, thus it makes no difference if the assistant was Sheringham or Curbishley's choice. In any case the two did not get along while at West Ham at all.

If Ramos got sacked, or left, Redknapp would be number one on my list. He'd love to finally prove himself at a club with a decent transfer budget, and in my opinion he's a top class manager - I thought he would've been a brilliant England manager.

However, I'm sure Ramos won't get sacked, we'll start winning, and it'll all work out just fine as it is. ;-)

Maybe because the two hate each other?

Also there is no way he would leave Pompey for us. He lives in his lovely home in Sandbanks, he's getting on and he is happy at Pompey.

That means that Coppell isn't good enough for us and that he should stay at smaller clubs like Reading/Palace.

We are Tottenham Hotspur.

My thoughts exactly... I was horrified when we were linked with him previously as I can't stand the man... He's as bent as they come, but give him the players we've currently got and probably be in the top 7...

I like Hughes as a manager, and he did well with limited players/resources with both Wales and Blackburn... Looks like he'll be at City a while though, unless their new owners are as trigger happy as Frank...
