Long term it would be Kaboul or Jan for me, never been a fan of keepers being captains.

Gallas doesn't play regularly enough and will likely be gone next season.
Dawson a captain type but doesn't play every game.
With rotation at the back that might rule out Vertonghen.
Sandro is injured. Dembele plays inside his own head.
Parker is likely to start every game and is another captain type but he's struggling.
Benny? Bit of a wild card and not sure AVB rates him that much.
Walker, too much of a joker and doesn't need any more pressure.
Others like Bale are too young or peripheral, Dempsey, Siggy
Adebayor it is then. Experienced, needs a boost. Could work.

Dawson is club captain and has the armband every time he plays.

If Dawson isn't playing I'd give it to Hugo or Jan

Leaders will lead. Do you really think Parker/Gallas/Dawson will be any more/less vocal with/without an armband? It will make zero difference for leading us "through the run in".

You know we're doing too well when people are fretting over this and who will take the penalties we never get. :)

It's just we often end up falling short - last year for example when our season fell apart. I'm all for anything that gives us an extra 1%, and I think a regular captain would help.......certainly wouldn't do any harm would it??? I'm just thinking Kompany, Roy Keane, Viera, Terry and the consistency, level of performance and everything positive that goes with it, that's all.

Interesting call and as you said it could be the boost he seems to need - nice call

Adebayor as captain:
Mind you he's going to be a busy boy.
Taking the penalties; scoring the goals; Captain of the team;
Eggs, basket perhaps.

Very selective choices of captains :) I think that might just show that they were good teams as opposed to captain's making a hoot of difference. I'm pretty sure that almost every team to ever be relegated have a consistant captain, does that mean anything?

If Adebayor could motivate himself it would be a start...

Also, if your saying Parker is struggling. and ruled him out for that, souldn't you do the same with Ade?

The 100 million percent starters for our remaining games are Lloris Dembele Bale Lennon Parker. If you want someone regular it can only be from those 5

Think it would suit his ego-he does seem to like being the main man and there is no doubting his ability when he plays his best-definitely think you're on to something here (y)

This discussion has been going on for ages...who was our last clear, obvious, no issues captain? Mabbutt? I don't really know how it goes at other clubs, but I think the captain business might be overstated - as a lot of people mention, we don't seem to be suffering at the moment not having one.

It seems that if you are going to have a meaningful captain, he has to be
1. Automatic starter
2. Ideally, your best or most respected player
3. with some seniority
4. with some history at the club

I don't see anyone fulfilling that. Lloris is captain of France. Verts was captain of Ajax. Kaboul was U21 captain of France. Parker has been captain on and off around, as has Gallas. Dawson is in theory our captain if playing. I don't see any obvious choice so I will choose to believe it doesn't really matter.
