Would rather we play sometime like Reo/Sterling than gamble with another unproven signing.

I think Kane must be the only youth player who has had a chance up front in the last 10 years, and he only had that because of Soldado being turd and Sherwood going out of his way to make a point.

Can't do much worse than anyone else we've signed in that position lately??

And what a good point Sherwood made... he deserve a lot of credit for Kane Mason Bentaleb (how we let Bentaleb go I just didn't understand that).

I think this has been one of my very few disappointments in the past few years, our lack of youth integration.

Not saying we play someone who is fundamentally not good enough or we force a square peg into a round hole for game time - but the lack of minutes for even our best youngsters has been a bit unfair in my view.

I know as we get better, then standard required gets harder but these youngsters need integrating and i agree with your point - our attacking options (especially in terms of the 10mins here and there Llorente got last year) would easily have been covered by a younger player.

He reminds me of Jay Emmanuel Thomas who destroyed our youth team for arsenal in a cup final a few years ago. Massive fast lump brilliant against kids of his own age. Now on trial at Billericay Town.
Long way before Reo proves himself as someone we should really get upset about losing peeps.

Terrible news if true.
Hmm. Regular youth watchers wouldn’t have him as one of the ‘ones to watch’. He’d be more in the second tier of talents than the ones we’re really, really excited about. Things haven’t felt quite right with him for a while - despite scoring absolute buckets at u18 level we never seemed overly keen to promote him to the u23s. I think the coaches, like those who regularly watch the youth (being from NI, I can’t count myself among them), saw him as someone who still has a lot to work on within his game, and a lot of refining of his technique before he becomes a true top-tier talent.

Wish him luck if he does join Lyon - going abroad is looking more and more like the best pathway for English youth, and we (Spurs) seem like we’re suffering from that trend more than anyone right now, with Bennetts, Madueke and now Griffiths all leaving this summer.

Surely with the amount of English youth talent going abroad at such a young age the homegrown rule needs looking at. We could be looking at a generation of English players eventually that go abroad to foreign clubs, learn their trade and struggle to get back into domestic football over here due to not having the perk of being homegrown attached to their name. Surely this hinders English youth more than helps them if it isn't addressed

That's what concerns me more than the individual himself, this is becoming regular now.

If this is true it would've (aka SC's would of) been nice to use this in some way to grease some N'Dombele movement...however that could have worked.

Can't imagine they would have changed their stance on their starting central midfielder so they could bring in their 5th string striker.

...Notice the 'would've been nice' in my post. You know, in an earlier negotiation...as a sweetener. Not necessarily now as the shit is hitting the fan.

edit: plus we would have to get him off the field vs Hudd right now.

Neither of them are anywhere near good enough. Parrot will be on our bench within two years.
