First game was played at training pace, we just happened to give our players some experience being surrounded by some of the best players on the planet. I'm sure we'll see different players getting a chunk of the action tomorrow and I can't see there being much of an issue with our players being tired for Saturday.

I'm with those who see this as a positive and good preparation.

I know you disagreed with me in the match thread, but it seems Poch isn't one of your group - being as he asked for the United game to be put back to Sunday (when have the FA ever done a single thing to help us, ever?).

I think if this tournament was last week if have been more than happy - it's better prep than playing Southend behind closed doors. But not two days before United away, especially when we're not even playing this tournament in England.

I'm pretty sure that the Premier League start was originally pencilled in for Saturday 15 August and then later brought back a week.

I think this was due to The FA wanting the extra week next year to prepare for Euro 2016 next June (although it could have been something else).

It is highly feasible that this tournament was arranged before that changed happened and we'd already made certain commitments (Levy probably booked the EasyJet flights early to get them cheap).

Anyway, blame Roy Hodgson! :)

I'm not sure that requesting the United game on the Sunday says all that much to be honest, other than if we could have had an extra day, we'd have liked that.

I honestly think this will have been good preparation for the lads.

Indeed. If poch had no concerns about the effect these games would have on the team, why would he ask for the game to be rescheduled (I heard this too).
I can't imagine poch will be happy about these games. Watch out for cracks in the relationship between the manager and chairman.

Making assumptions again? How do you know poch didn't have final say?

I think ENIC's strategy over the last few years shows they are preparing the club for sale.

Young Manager, young players, new stadium and training ground.

All of these increase the long term value of the club.

Levy said years ago the club is always for sale.

I don't think we're actively looking to sell. The Premier League is getting bigger and bigger, so why wouldn't ENIC be looking to get a bigger and bigger cut of things? Obviously a ridiculous offer came along it could happen. But I don't think it's something that, which the Premier League continues to grow, will be actively pursued.

Sacking Redknapp, was down to Joe Lewis being royally pissed with Redknapp.

Joe Lewis is nearly 80. Maybe he's ready to hand the club over and cash in?

As I said, it's always for sale. If someone comes in with the right price it will be sold. We even know that he values it at around the £1bn mark (includes cost of new stadium).

Yeah, the fixtures are totally unnecessary and a mistake but Pochettino's handling it the right way, it seems. For most it's equivalent to playing a 30-60 minute training match which I'm sure they'd be doing anyway in the build up to the United match.

Reporter from the Sun said that MP told him Tottenham asked the FA if we could put our fixture with Man U back to the Sunday!!!

Fantastic preparation and as the poster said not very clever and all about money and a bit of profile
Was the Audi tournament schedule at a time the club expected do play on a Sunday?
