Hmm, did i just watch the right fight, or did i accidentally see a Hatton fight from 4 or 5 years ago?

He just strolled into every big shot Pac threw at him! I know he was trying to get inside but f*ck me, if i need to cross a busy road i at least try to avoid the traffic, not just walk blindly in front of every car

Horrible to watch, Hatton didn't look confident from before the start though - as said, he looked pasty and distracted, none of the concentration and tension you got from him when he was beating everyone. Pac was a bit of an animal actually, he realised Hatton wanted to get going early but instead of backing down just got stuck in.

He was out before he hit the canvas though, mad hook and his lights went straight out. Hate to see Hatton lose but the better man, by such an undescribably massive margin, won that fight.

lol that was embarrassing. did hatton even train? how low was his left all the time. joker

he looked pretty good in the 24/7 hbo thing Floyd Sr. looked like he was making a big difference to Ricks game. But old habits die hard... There was no way Floyd could reverse all that poor training in 12 weeks. As soon as Pac landed his first punch, Hatton seemingly forgot everything he was taught, reverted back to his old style and got his ass whooped accordingly.

Floyd said ricky didn't do what he was told. (he didn't keep his hands up etc.) and said Ricky should retire. :-|
Theres no way Floyd sr would've sent Hatton out with that shitty kind of game plan.

Really happy to hear Hatton is OK.

The fight was predictable though. A genuine great vs British hype, it was always going to be a replay of his match against Mayweather.

Mayweather must take some of the blame for this. Turning up late for training etc. He should be telling Hatton about his weaknesses. He got caught very easily yesterday.

Mayweather can be heard at the end of the first round saying:

"Stop trying to over power him, you wont over power him you need to keep your hands up man, you should have been listening to me from day one"

Obviously the big man act got to Ricky's head and he didn't listen.

95% of UK betting on this fight was backing Hatton, 90% of the bets taken directly in Vegas were for Manny Pacquiao... I think it's obvious that people here were betting with their hearts and not their heads.

My personal opinion is that anyone who actually thought Hatton could win this fight were either totally drunk on patriotic hype or simple know very little about boxing.

Hatton is/was a good fighter, but he isn't and never was one of the worlds best, he only thought a couple of past their prime champions like Tszyu and Casillas...(even Williams beat a past prime Tyson).... my personal opinion is that Hatton only got these big fights because of the fan following he developed and the money he could generate (rather then his ability) and billings suggesting he was in real contention to be the lb for lb greatest were pure propaganda to add to the money making potential.

Good to hear Hatton is ok, he has had a good career and made a great living.. he gave his all but simply was out of his depth against the true greats. This is nothing to be ashamed of of course, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather jr are two of the best I have seen in my lifetime.

I expect him to have a farewell fight in Manchester against a cherry picked opponent so he can retire on a more postive note and give his fans one last cheer, then he can spend his life with friends and family (and I assume a decent career as a pundit for skys boxing broadcasts)

it would be great to see Hatton having his farewell fight against Khan (though Khan would most likely knock him out)

Hate the idea of a farewell fight. He has nothing to gain, apart from a purse... and that is seriously dangerous. If he cherry picks a slapper who has no chance his credibility goes out of the window. If he fights someone like Khan, it's a no win situation. He wins? Wow, he beat a kid without a chin.

He should leave now. Lost two in his career. To two of the best fighters in the world right now. No shame. He's done fantastically out of boxing. Go home, count his money, drink beer and enjoy life.

I would be shocked if he never had a farewell fight in Manchester.

Too easy for him to accept one last pay day and promote it as a return home stroke final send off. If he fights someone he can easy out muscle and ultimatley knock out his fans will be happy and he can return having won his last fight (no one wants to go out with a loss)

Naseem Hamid did something similar after his loss to Barrera, one last fight to atleast have the last image of the fighter be a victorious one.

I doubt he would fight anyone of real note, just some one to basically be his punching bag and get stopped via a body punch around the 6th round. It may never happen, but it is what I think/expect will occur.

I agree. Is £15m not enough to live comfortably on? And that's not counting the many millions he had made before this fight. No point fighting on, imo.

Agree with the sentiment completely, he has nothing to gain from fighting on really, he has reached his highest level and hit the ceiling of his talent.

Another fight would surely be a comfortably outing against someone he can use for a last cameo and knock out comfortbaly, its easy to look at that scenerio and think 'whats the point?' (and I agree there is little point to it)

However, while he has clearly already made more then enough money one last pay day will still appeal to him I am sure (and he would still carry the clout to sell out the MEN arena or even The City of Manchester stadium)

Plus I am sure his fighters heart will mean he has a burning desire not to have his final image as a boxer be that of his head being almost taken off and being stretched across the canvas for a while.

I am pretty certain he will fight again in Manchester, have an easy night, take the pay day and retire with a final win for his record (Only my personal opinion of course)

From bettingzone.co.uk

1245: Ricky Hatton is a 4/11 chance with William Hill to beat Amir Khan should the two British fighters meet.
Hatton's dream of becoming the best pound for pound boxer in the world was brought to a shuddering halt by a thunderous left hook to the chin by Manny Pacquiao and his future has been the subject of intense speculation ever since then.
If he decides to continue then a clash with Bolton's Khan would spark huge interest in Britain.
Khan first fights for the WBA light-welterweight title against Andreas Kotelnik next month but Hills make him the 2/1 outsider if and when he takes on Hatton.
It's also a 2/1 chance with Hills that Hatton hangs up his gloves.

Interesting. I expect Khan to win his fight next month, so it could be Hatton's way back to a world title. If this goes ahead, and were he to beat Khan, he should retire then, as champion.

Maybe he could fight Junior Witter, and end one of the most one sided and longest running feuds in British Boxing History, it would be a homecoming, a winnable fight and still garner some interest.

Khan/Hatton would be an interesting fight.

Hatton didn't look like he could hit a beachball the other day, so perhaps Khan's seed and power would be too much for him. That said if Hatton did catch Khan it'd probably be game over.

Mouthwatering.

if you think of the 2 people hatton has lost to it puts it into context really. pacman and mayweather are 2 of the best fighters recent times, hatton is still a top class fighter just not the great fighter we all wanted him to be.

if hatton v khan were to happen id imagine hatton to come out on top.

Kahn is also trained by Freddy Roach, it was interesting to read some of Roach's comments regarding Hatton.

He had said somthing along the lines of how he had seen so much footage of Hatton that he knew him as well as he knew his own fighters and that Hatton was constently open for a right hook as and when he threw his own left hand.

Seems to me that Khan would have the best person in his corner for a fight against Hatton in terms of game plan and training in general.

Although of course exercuting a game plan is a differnt task all together, Kahn has the speed but probably not the power. It could be a good fight, I agree with you though, I would make Hatton a slight favourite in a fight against Kahn.

I wonder if he has any desire to fight Whitter, he has repeated said not but surely when someone is calling you out in such a manner for so long you must have some part of you that whats to shut him up.

Both options are realistic I think and both would no doubt be another sky PPV generating alot of money for all involved (probably more then enough to tempt Hatton away from retirement, especially when he will badly want to retire proving that he still had enough in the tank to be a top fighter)

Would HATE to see him fight Witter. "The Hitter" doesn't deserve the pay day that Hatton brings.

That said, would LOVE to see him cut Witter in half.
