Ridiculous conincidences about Wednesday's game

I was thinking about the game on Wendesday, and then chuckled when i realised that the last time we beat Arsenal in the league, the score was also 2-1. Then i remembered that in both games, we went two nil up and Arsenal got a goal back.

Fine, no big deal.

Then i remembered that the game before in 1999, we lost 2-0 to two late goals in a Cup game, on that occasion against Kaiserslautern, and on BOTH ocassions the crucial goal came about by an accidental error from most people's favourite player at the club, this time Dawson, last time Carr. Both games happened 3 days before the victorious derby

The last league game before both games? Sunderland away, we lost them both.

And on a personal note, the last two derbies my dad has missed? You've guessed it-1999 and 2010.

Quite frankly, that is riduclous.

Does anyone else have any other crazy coincidence stories like that??

I take exception that it was Dawson's error.

On a side note, I have tickets to Bolton and City and I've not seen us lose this season

Just something small about the game itself - Rose, playing 'outside right', scored from the 'inside left' position and Bale, playing 'outside left', scored from the 'inside right' position.

Perhaps showing some tactical awareness and flexibility in both cases - or just the mere coincidence of being in the right spot at the right time?

Yes, you're correct - both great birthday presents for me (and a few other SC members, to judge from other threads)! :)

Bale drifted in from the left realised he was centre forward and not marked, Defoe occupying Rsol, Silvestre asleep, stroked the ball rather than blast it just like he did at Fulham- lesson there?

I have tickets to Bolton and Burnely both in our opponents stands.... on a positive note everytime I have sat in opposing teams stands (largely in the Midlands during my Uni days) we have won.

last time, Carling cup final vs Chelsea... hopefully my streak will continue and we can finish the season strongly (just gotta find me some tickets in the Man City end)

But what happened in the game AFTER the arse game in 1999? I really hope we had Chelsea at home and beat them 5-0. Bet we didn't though.
