They're after Ndicka on a free I think.

Yeah, i'm pretty sure the deal has already been confirmed. If that article I linked is to be believed Roma have to raise 30m euros by the end of June to comply with FFP, so them signing NDicka on a free and selling Ibanez to us for 30m euros would seem to line up.

From what I heard, Ndicka wanted a big signing on fee and all the other stuff that goes with a Bosman deal. Not sure how they square that if they need money but I guess a fee for Ibanez helps.

Not had a chance to find the clip yet but was listening to talkSPORT earlier in the afternoon and “an Italian football expert” (salt required as I can’t remember who it was) said that this Ibanez to Spurs was moving pretty quickly

As much as I want this to be true I’m convinced most of these ‘experts’ and journalist’s sources amount to nothing more than entering ‘Tottenham transfers’ in the search function of Twitter and noting down the results.

Yeah it’s probably bollocks. Only listen to talkSPORT when everything else on the radio’s shit 😂

We had one of those a few years back, the name escapes me at the moment… 😉

Haven’t watched him loads but watched him against Feyenoord both legs, Leverkusen and Sevilla, as well as Inter.

I get that he may also be hindered by Mourinho to be fair, like many players.

But his passing stats don’t paint a great picture from a purely statistical pov, though I appreciate context is always required.

Another link that feels like it's being heavily pushed by the other club who have FFP issue and their friendly agents/journalists.

Maybe we have been offered him like many others and haven't outright said no but I suspect it isn't much more than that at the moment.

An Italian team with supposed cash issues looking to sell a defender, I'd swear I've seen this movie before and have an idea how it ends

He doesn't strike me as a player who should be partnering Romero in a back 4. Whether we line up like that remains to be seen though. I think Romero needs a calm, sensible player next to him. Laporte is top of my list.

I think the context I’d probably apply to that stat table is that a player not attempting or completing many passes be it short, medium or long will probably have a lot to do with the system they play in. If their pass completion is particularly poor then I’d have more concern over it personally. In that regard he’s pretty meh, not good, not particularly bad either. Hard to really get a grasp on how he would perform if he went through more volume of passing. I think I agree that in an ideal world you’d hope for better on the ball than Ibanez but I also think you’d struggle to find a CB who is better suited to the PL from a purely defensive standpoint. Out of interest if you were to choose your ideal CB that we could realistically sign this summer who would you be going for? Im not sure Ibanez is no.1 for me but he’d be pretty high up the list purely because I think him and Romero would be a total ball-ache to play against

I've had this thought about left-footed right backs before too. I literally can't think of a single one, ever.

I think I recall Benni Assou-Ekotto shifting to RB for half a match when we lost an RB (or two) to injury / red cards. I think it would have been under Redknapp. It was the most out-of-position I've ever seen anyone look, like we'd have been better with literally anyone else (or possibly nobody) out there. And that's not a dig at Benni, I thought he was alright in Redknapp's team; it's just how alien it felt.
Didn't we have about 7 RBs at that point?!? We were stockpiling :ROFLMAO:

I would go for one of Tapsoba, Inacio or Schlotterbeck.

If we can get Laporte he would also be someone I’d go for due to his quality and experience, even if he doesn’t quite have the pace some of these other options and Ibanez have. Tapsoba probably my number 1 pick (some reservations over his aerial ability though) as I don’t think we can get Schlotterbeck.

Not really clear if we’re going to be lining up in a 2 or 3 CB formation yet, I wouldn’t be totally shocked if we stuck with 3, Ange has been coaching over 20 years, he’s unlikely to be wedded to one particular formation with all that experience. Something like Romero, Laporte, Ibanez would be pretty cool in my opinion. Calm and classy Laporte controlling things and starting our build up and two physical and aggressive guys either side would have a nice balance to it. I personally think we’d see a different side to Romero with better players next to him too tbh, he showed in the World Cup he’s capable of playing to a really high level as a more calm and composed defender with better players beside him

Those are great suggestions tbf. Haven’t seen a lot of Tapsoba myself but I’ve been really impressed with Inacio when I’ve seen him play, looks like he has it all. We’re quite fortunate that our dire need for a rebuild at CB coincides with there being quite a few great young options out there that we could realistically attract and afford. Fingers crossed we get it right as 1 or 2 quality CB’s along with Raya would transform this team
