You gotta feel for the guy.....

Roman Pavlyuchenko has accused Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp of jeopardising his career by refusing to allow him to leave White Hart Lane.
It is the second time this season that the Russia international has hit out in public over his perceived treatment at Spurs.
The striker has been a bit-part player this season and has not been able to earn the move he craves — with Lokomotiv Moscow the latest club thought to have been thwarted in their attempts to sign him for £10.5million.
Pavlyuchenko could still leave before the end of the English season as the Russian transfer window is open until mid-March, but the 28-year-old doubts this will happen.
He said: “I need to play football, otherwise people will have only memories of the footballer Pavlyuchenko and they won't need him anymore.
“Lokomotiv made a really worthy offer and if I sit on the subs' bench they won't offer the same sum in summer.
“Sometimes I have a feeling that Redknapp is just making fun of me. I told him that this can not go on, since I wouldn't help my team with sad thoughts in my mind.”
After a successful Euro 2008, Pavlyuchenko joined Spurs that summer in a £13.8m deal, and had a reasonably successful first season in English football.
He scored 14 goals, netting six times as Spurs reached the Carling Cup Final for the second successive season.
But he never appeared to have the trust of Redknapp, who has re-signed Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane and brought in Peter Crouch during his 15 months at the club.
“At the start of the season, Redknapp said I would play,” Pavlyuchenko told Russian newspaper Sport Express.
“As a result I featured in six or seven games having 10 minutes of playing time. I'm absolutely sure that it will be the same in the next three months.
“I don't see any future for myself at Tottenham. They are a really big club with super fans, who liked me, however I think it's the end of the affair, not with the team but the coach.”
Pavlyuchenko was kept on the bench throughout Spurs' 1-1 FA Cup draw at Bolton last week, even though the 4,800-strong travelling contingent chanted his name throughout.
And despite Robbie Keane being allowed to join Celtic on loan earlier this month, the arrival of Eidur Gudjohnsen at Spurs means Pavlyuchenko remains fourth-choice striker with Redknapp having said in January that he was willing to let him leave.

Harry Redknapp is a prick. A good manager, maybe, but he is a horrible person.

And before everyone comes on saying that Pavlyuchenko needs to shut up and work harder in training, if he's that bad, then just sell him. Don't sit him on the bench week in week out, get him to warm up, then bring on Keane/Crouch/Sandra Redknapp as is always the case. And don't bring him on for his first game in ages, in which he scores the winning goal and shows some genuine class, then moan about his work rate.

No one is saying Pavlyuchenko is the answer to all of our problems, but he hasn't been quite so awful to merit the horrendous treatment thrown his way by our manager.

Should have been given a chance. Is potentially better than all bar Defoe. Looked way more on JD's wavelength than 3 metre Peter when they played together. Is justifiably fucked off, and just like Bent, only voicing his frustrations.

Not condoning his outburst, but I can see why it has happened.

...and to add to that, I would play him over Crouch all day every day.

I must say that I do feel sorry for the guy, not so much because he's not playing but because in conjunction with the lack of game time, he's being kept around purely as an 'in case of emergency' player, only appearing if we're either desperate in the game situation, or if everybody is injured. If it's true that Redknapp vetoed a 10 million deal which the board had accepted, then I hope that it's because of a genuine intention to use the guy and not just as a fourth choice striker. If nothing else, having someone like Pavlyuchenko as fourth choice is not only bad for him, but bad for the club, because it stifles the development of a young striker who might have been knocking on the door, one who might have more hunger when he played as he'd be delighted rather than disillusioned at the prospect of being fourth choice.

I could understand if Crouch was playing well, but he isn't, and hasn't since the City game. Gudjohnsen has now been signed as well so now Pavlyuchenko isn't even 2nd choice as a target man. He's fit now, so if he doesn't appear at all in the next 4 or 5 games despite Harry voiding the deal, it will very harsh on the guy.

As for the constant 'not doing it in training' reason given for exclusions of Pav and others, I really don't buy it. A player can 'not do it' in training and still be a better option on matchday, Ledley King is proof of that.

I'm not saying Pav is better than any of the others, I'm not saying throw him in immediately, I just feel that he deserves a little bit more of a push than Redknapp has given him. Has Crouch, and before him Keane, done that much to justify being without question ahead of Pavlyuchenko?

If he is not good enough and is a bad trainer, so we are led to believe, then why dont we just sell him....? Why is HR keeping hold of him and letting his value go down at the same time by doing so, as he sure as hell aint playing him. I just dont get it. Maybe Harry Redknapp, sorry I meant Sugar Bear, can come on and reveal al....

To hell with Pav. Pav was not putting in a shift in practice. Harry is 100% correct IMO.

If that is the case then why the fcuk aint he letting him go....? We would rather have a out of shape/sorts Eidur play ahead of him...... Jesus wept....:bang:

I must admit i'm baffled that a club which has struggled for goals at times, has opted to keep Pav on the bench. He is the only prolific goalscorer we have aside from Defoe. He has to be worth a shot. As for his training, obviously we don't know how hard he works in training. But he is most likely very low in confidence atm, and probably doesn't feel wanted. So i wouldn't be surprised if he isn't able to life himself for training. He comes across as one of those players who needs to feel wanted.

Yeh gibbsy how do you or any of us know that

Redknapp is a good manager but im starting to doubt him as a person, what does pav have to do to get a game, scores a great goal against leeds plays well then back on the bench you go.

Wonder what redknapp thought sunday when the super pav chants were being belted out?

He clearly has his favourites defoe and crouch, and im sorry but its not a great partnership at all!

Don't feel sorry for him, He signed a contract and should no he can only move in the summer when we can get a proper replacement in. Can't be good business in Winter Transfer window.

He should learn to be quiet knuckle down, hope to play some matches and in the summer do one.

He is being paid lets not forget he isn't a prisoner.
The manager picks who he chooses is best and Pav quite obviously hasn't been putting a shift in and has given up.

so if he can give up on us, why cant we in turn muck him around and keep him til the summer?

Fudge him i say.

Pav is the prick. He might be fucked off, he might have reason to be, but continuously letting your thoughts out in public is not the way to do it. He is employed as our player, and will be until the summer, he will play if he is required, at the moment he isn't, but shut up and get on with it, we pay your wages. If you hate it that much buy yourself ou of the contract.

I still think he is shit, and always will, apart from a goal against a League 1 team and some goals in the league cup, I cannot remember once when I left the Lane thinkig what a great game Pav had. But that isn't the point, he is here to do a job for us and that job is whatever the manager decides the job is, rightly or wrongly.

yeah pav came on and scored but because he hasn't been training correctly he got injured and missed any chance he had of getting another game in quick succession!

Yeah Pav is such an amazing player when he last lead our line we nearly went down.....

Apart from against the two Manc sides at home, I can't think of a single other goal Defoe has scored from a Crouch knockdown. Also, one goal away to Brum from an admittedly brave and clever Crouch header, at least on the assumption that Bales cross wouldn't have reached Defoe without it.

I know people say 'how can you say there's a Pav Defoe partnership when they've barely played together' but my take on that is 'they've barely played together and still showed an understanding, which shows a natural link'. The best partnerships are usually those which are evident immediately. Klinsmann and Sheringham, two players who are admittedly better than Defoe and Pavlyuchenko or even Defoe and Gudjohnsen (who I also felt showed some understanding in the first half v Wolves), had an understanding from the very first time they played together.

Defoe and Crouch rarely link at all. They didn't at Pompy either. Watch a youtube reel of all Defoe's goals for Pompy, I think only one of them was made by Crouch if memory serves correct from watching such things in the summer.
