everyone saying he is the new Drogba, why not get the real Drogba? he'd be cheaper and score more goals.
Neither will happen but there you go.

Unlikely signing...

It looks even more unlikely after he ranked Liverpool ahead of us. Plus he supports Chelsea...

He said: There is also Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City. These big five are very interesting. Tottenham are also a good club.

GOOD?!?! Liverpool ahead of us :bang::bang::bang: I don't think he has realised where Liverpool are nowadays and where we are, we kinda switched positions.

rooney went for more having scored 6 and 9 goals for everton two seasons prior and playing 30+ games for them each season

admittedly he was a little easier to assess as he'd already been playing in the prem and the big money paid for him was by Man Utd who are/were loaded...

...and whilst i agree the fee is inflated, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that a side other than man city or chelsea may stump up. i don't think we will, we're more prudent than that but as someone else suggested, a deal including some up front and a bulk of £££ being performance related might swing it...?

he does look good though.

They'll hang on as long as possible, but could use the cash, so may end up going for a lot less than that.

Heard rumblings we were interested but felt they were taking the piss with the asking price.

To score 60 goals in a senior European league before you're 18 is phenomenal though. The guy is obviously a special talent.

Yeh that would be ridiculous. Lukaku has 28 goals in senior league football. That is still a great return.

What nobody seems to get here is that Man City don't know what they are doing. The kid is 17 and who the hell knows if he'll make it. We've seen young big lads at forward before and they have turned into just average players: Dublin, Heskey, Carew. And they are going to throw a shit load of cash at it...just because. And that is the only reason. That's a systematic model that is built for failure.

The point is that you don't buy the hottest name, especially as they have a bumbled ass-backward into Dzeko. Let them buy him and waste the space. There are significantly more promising young forwards (also none guaranteed to make it) that are cheaper and a better look. Just because he ticks boxes doesn't mean he's better.

Let's just hope we have the scouting system that can suss out the gems.

Romelu on Belgian tele this evening was claiming he was very surprised to be linked with City as there was nothing to it. Just rumours from lazy journalists. Manager from Anderlecht also said it was utter nonsense.

I'm sure I read that he won't be moving this transfer window as he has to finish school.

He may very well be the next Drogba, or not. But £25mil for him is a huge gamble, especially from a weak league.

Then again, if you don't take risks you'll never know for sure. But, we do need to buy a striker, I just hope Harry stop looking for other position players and just look for strikers.

I heard he's looking at Taiwo from France, although he's good, but I prefer a striker in first, as left-back we're quite sturdy just Ekotto needs competition and cover.

Im not a gambling man, but it's a gamble i would definitely take. I cant rate him highly enough. He is immense - i've seen him live a couple of times and its obvious he will make it big time in the PL. Age isnt an issue to me. People keep harping on about his age and the fact that he is so young... Age is irrelevant - look at the facts. He has the physical attributes, he has the technical ability, and most importantly he has the mental attributes. He sounds and looks like a 25 year year, let alone 17. What his passport says shouldnt matter.

Every video on Youtube makes a footballer look 'immense', but until you watch few of his full 90 minute games then you can judge him better. I have no doubt he's a good player but £25mil gamble is too much, and Redknapp is not that kind of manager to splash out that much when he can use that money to buy couple or few players.

Age isn't the main concern here; in fact, younger he is the better and, with his potential of being the next Drogba it's a bonus.

£25mil for a player who's untested in the PL is insane, we're not City so we need to be wiser with our money. The only time when age is relevant is when he costs £25mil, over-priced? Definitely. That price is reasonable - if you're City.

I'd like to gamble that much on him as well, but how many time we've witness gambler always lose. It's like spinning a slot machine, you always lose more than you win.

About age and looks doesn't matter, check out Obefami Martin. It matters, in this case.

Can you not read? I live 20 minutes away from Anderlecht and I have seen him live a fair few times.

If he wants to succeed in the future, he needs to calm his dad down. Lukaku's dad stormed out of the building when Boussoufa (born in Amsterdam and Ajax academy player) won his 2nd golden Boot award yesterday as best player in Belgium over Lukaku.

I thought you meant live as in 'Youtube live replay montages', my mistake.

Furthermore, my main point was his price tag from a weaker league compare to EPL, you could put Defoe there and he'll score as much as he did.

£25mil for a player who may very well be a flop is a HUGE GAMBLE. Darren Bent was a gamble, and how did that turn out? But luckily we were able to recoup what we paid for him from selling to Sunderland and then 6mil windfall from Sunderland>Villa.

On the other hand, if we splash out £25mil for Lukaku and he turned out to be a flop, we won't get back what we've paid for him; best we get back is around £6-£12mil - like for Bent. The loss will be far more significant than Bent's.

Let's say we do get back £12mil or £16mil, we still lose around £10mil cash that could be used to buy other players. Realistically £10mil is a lot, like when we paid £17mil for Bentley, what chances of us selling him more than £6mil now? Good chance. What about getting back the £17mil we've spent? Zilch.

With £25mil we could get Taiwo and Rossi, both may be flops but the likelihood for both being flops are less than Lukaku. More sensible approach for Spurs, if we're City then £25mil is sensible/cheap for one player.
