I was at the Man Utd game where he scored his 24 yard screemer, and at the right end so I saw it all the way in. Great goal, great player.

RIP Ron Henry.

Rip legend of the club

Way before my time and maybe even my dads time but I'm sure my granddad would have watched him every week and he will forever be remembered as part of the clubs gloriously history

Physically gone but immortalised in the fabric of a great club

RIP

Its a shame that some members of the double team never saw us lift the title again (I still have hope) or even saw us win the CL which we arguably were robbed off in 62

I have an abiding memory of him being wrong-footed by an ageing Stanley Matthews who was so close to where I stood on the centre line I could almost have reached out and touched him and Ron, who had just won his only cap for England, shaking his head and applauding him as he watched the great man dribble past him.

Ron Henry and Peter Baker are the best full back pairing I ever watched, solid defenders who knew each others moves and read the game so well. Peter is in poor health too sadly.

It won't be too long now before the Double team is gone and as I count a few of them as personal friends it's just heartbreaking to think about it.

Sad news, RIP Big Ron. I consider myself lucky to have seen him play (along with the rest of the double team).
