But who would broadcast it? BT Sport own the rights in the UK for all European football from next season. 6 matches involving English teams and Celtic and all the other Champs League games etc? They'd need 30 sports channels.

Playing Wednesday or Thursday doesn't bother me. Watching us a huff and puff against 3rd rate European opposition until we get to the knock out and get knocked out.

Less games means less distraction from the league. Liverpool went from 8th to 2nd in one season and only played 43 games. United similar this season.

BT aren't showing it all are they?
If they had 30 channels they'd charge us for each one probably lol

Can't be putting our noses up at the Europa, I agree it can be detrimental, but that's a challenge that the players and the manager should be looking to overcome.

We talk about the great nights in the CL, and how it can't compare with the EL, but remember that game at the Lane vs Sevilla? Atmosphere was epic, even at 2-0 down. I'll admit I dont visit the lane as often anymore but our fans that night were amazing, haven't seen us like that since and that was 8 years ago!

When have the players and manager come close to measuring up to the challenge? 1980s. 2 teams (Liverpool and Man Utd) with Champions League ambition and funding have made it benefiting massively from the reduced fixture list. Until they change the format we are best out of it. I genuinely hope we miss out the 'special atmosphere' for games with Asteras Tripolis.

I would like us to continue or appearance in the Europa League, but to help blood some more youth and keep our coefficient rating going. Our squad is just not good enough to qualify for CL or play in it for the foreseeable future, and a season of not having any extra fixtures wouldn't help us 1 bit.

since we have been out of Europe I think our form has dipped, and results definitely haven't improved. it could be put down to tiredness and we are now really starting to show it, but my honest opinion is that we really just don't have a good enough squad to be able to compete, whether that changes with the summer transfer window is anyone's guess, but even then i'm not sure we can get in 4 or 5 players that can change things around

Yeah, I think it's a bit of both. It's hard to tell just how much all these games have physically tired us out but we have played a lot of football up to this point.

I'm not gonna lie, I hope we don't get into the competition. Unless you have a very strong squad sometimes I feel like this tournament is best for teams who don't have as much to play for in the league, for teams like Everton say, with no disrespect. If we had a team like the one that Harry had I would say different, because I think we'd have a good chance of doing very well in it and all the work before you get to the latter stages may not be wasted but as we are now, being in such a transition I can only feel that it will end up being a disruption again.

As we are now we're far from being good enough to win the competition IMO and we all anticipate quite an improvement next season but I think it will be better to transition without the distraction of the Europa League.

Youth and fringe players for group games and first team for the knock out stage.

Poch says we need to analyse it should we qualify but really there is nothing to analyse. It really is as simple as that.

until the new stadium goes up, we need the extra revenue to give us a chance of being able to improve this squad. if I felt our squad could go 1 season alla Liverpool or Man u and that would get us in to CL i'd say go for it, but we haven't a squad that could do it.

we have got so much deadwood that needs to be gone, if we can't improve this squad and manage to get rid of most of that deadwood, then those that wish for no Europa league appearance will come true come the end of 2015/16

Looks like villa get into europa now
That leaves position 5 and 6 to europa as chelsea won the carling cup.

So to sum up....

If Arsenal win the cup it goes down to 7th (both cup places go to the league).

If Villa win it just goes to 6th (League cup place to the league).

Either way you'd hope we'll be finishing in the top 6 so I think Poch needs to get his thinking hat on regarding how to deal with this tournament properly next season.

I'm not convinced that us being without Europa is going to mean we perform better - although I would enjoy the 3pm Saturday KOs.

I hope we are in it and that we approach it in a sensible fashion - kids and extras in the early rounds and if we go out so be it. Then when it gets to the serious end of things bring in the first team.

With Arscum luck they will most probably win after keeper takes a goal kick in a strong wind, ball hits corner flag spins across the area and beats Given at the near post

So now after the weekend villa are guaranteed the Europa League place from the FA Cup. So in the league 5th and 6th will qualify now. Its between us, Liverpool and the saints.
