I'm working for swedish TV with statistics in Premier League and made some research regarding the amount of time that Rory Delap needs to prepare to throw those freaky throw-ins.

In the match Stoke-Aston Villa Rory threw 19 throw-ins.
The average time / throw-in was 0.26 seconds (the longest being 0.52).

The TOTAL amount of time was 8.20 (!).
The total amount of time added for the game was 5.05...

I guess that's just what we all expected from those frustrating Stoke-games, but now you have it on black and white!

I understand the point you are making here lillywhite.

However,The Laws of The Game do not state that the match Referee has to add-on time to compensate for this fact. The only action the Referee can take is to caution the player concerned if he persists in this type of misconduct.

I would expect a good Referee to do just that and take the necessary action to stop this type of Gamesmanship.

And how many goals have come from his throws this season?

it must be a fair few , most games ive seen of stoke including highlights Stoke normally get a goal from a throw in or at least it cause mayhem that leads to the goal. Dawson will have to be covering fuller on any of the throw ins.

I note young GB is adding a long throw to his extensive list of capabilities..

Even if it doesn't help us score ,at least our defence will have had some long throw defending experience from training ( I assume..)

Something like 2 of their last 4 goals in 5 games or something - heard this on ESPN and would trust it about as much as if it were smeared in cat shit on my garage wall by our local retarded mattress salesman.

The timing thing isn't just the hold-ups, either, it's the growth in the sense of desperation/frustration felt as we just want to get the ball and play. That's where you need some experienced heads - and to not give away the damn things in the first place.

Oh, and very good to see you here lillywhite - it's been a while I think.

Its not new Hutchinson of Chelsea done it in the 70s. Seemed to have died out till Delap.

Martin Chivers anyone? Set up the winning goal in the 1973 League Cup final with one of his trademark long throws.

That type of training could still be done. With or without GB. All it takes is someone taking throws from a shorter distance which would be less than the norm. Besides, not all playing pitches have the same width.

How long do most people take for a throw-in? How about the average time taken for throw-ins close to the corner flag?

I have no idea, but it would be interesting to know. It is kind of meaningless to criticize Delap without some kind of comparison.

a normal football game only has about 65-75 minutes of real play...should we add on 15 mins to every game? Injury time is only really made for stoppages of play like subs and injuries. And sometimes time wasting

But for that to mean anything, you need to compare it to other players.
