This one. He was approached after the Dortmund game like many players are. He didn't go running off to the press. He was asked. Watch the video yourself. This was nothing at all:

You really don't expect a lot from players, do you? Just because you are asked a question doesn't mean you have to answer it. He should have learned that on Day 1 of media training, not now, when he's an experienced international.

Look, to complain about the media making up stories when he consistently gives them obvious fuel for their fire is pure hypocrisy. "Yes, I was fuming" with a cheeky smile might be fine for him, but it's an obvious story in the paper the next day. It's just silly.

He's not a kid, he's a grown man who should and does know better.

Seemingly every other week Danny Rose is quoted in the newspapers, direct from the horse's mouth, occasionally not sanctioned by the club.
Strangely, this doesn't seem to happen with our other players. It's almost like they all keep their mouth shout and focus on their football.

As tiger666 points out above, there was one dodgy interview at the beginning of the season - sorted out quickly by Pochettino, then put in the past.

I'd be interested to see you post examples - with direct quotes from Rose (not just media shit-stirring) - of those other interviews. If it's "every other week", as you say, you should be able to find five or ten separate examples.

Seems Rose is our current object of hatred. Sissoko will be happy.

But it's only you (and fans like you) who read shit like that in the media and take any notice of it!

It's not being hypocritical to accuse the press of making up stories, as that's what they did. I didn't see him complaining about this story, as it was his quotes - fair game.

I get tired of our fans absolving players of responsibility as it just reduces any argument to nothing. It’s lazy. We treat them like babies

I’m a huge fan of Rose as a player, I adopted him on here, have always sung his praises (as I have Sissoko actually). I believe him saying unhelpful things isn’t isolated to one interview and I think any fans who tire of seeing his face in the papers are justified, if only because the Danny Rose Defence League leap on board to tell you you’re imagining things.

Maybe if someone says “were you fuming to be left out?” rather than say “yes”, you say “obviously every player wants to play, but the manager makes the decisions”. Easy. Will have been taught him at his first media training class, don’t be led by the interviewer.

Can’t do it tho, can he? Why do we hold footballers to such low standards?

It’s not tho is it? Clearly Danny reads them. As does Poch. If no one read them why would he care about the stories? Why would he say the stories aren’t helpful? I’m afraid you’re not making much sense.

They didn’t make up stories either. He walks into their hands. “Were you fuming to be left out?” “Yes”. He does the journos job for him. He said it, it’s on the bloody video. And the “one interview” (c) gave them enough material for the next year.

“Fans like you”. State of you. Wind it in, mateo_O

That's pretty much what he did say. I've no idea why some people are getting so hung up on his use of one word. Pretty petty tbh.

"Me and the manager have not fallen out, not had an argument. I was angry about not being involved in the squad, but at the same time, I understand and I respect his views."

I wasn't criticising you over Sissoko - I was just comparing this situation to that one; we seem to have one or two players at any one time that are the butts of all anger/criticism.

I'm still waiting for all the other examples of interviews that Rose has given, which you evidently can't supply. So far we have one bad interview at the beginning of the season - no arguments there - and one use of the word "fuming", which is perfectly reasonable, just the media decided to use it as a headline. Like the media does, it's their job.

You ask why I hold footballers to such low standards - why do you hold them to such high standards? The game would be crushingly dull if no-one said anything other than bland rubbish.

All he did was criticise the press for making up stories about his substitution against Apoel - putting the record straight, which is fair enough. I seriously doubt whether he or Pochettino really care that much about what the press says.

Neither he nor I said anything about the press making up "fuming" - I clearly acknowledged that in my post.

You - and yes, fans like you - are clutching at straws to promote your own angry agenda. Not really sure why to be honest - I just think people like having things to be angry about.

Let's suspend hostilities for the duration of the Stoke game.

Unless Rose raises an eyebrow the wrong way from the bench - in which case we can all go into screaming meltdown.
