I came here to make a joke about us now having to move onto our second target, Boss Rarkley, but then I realized Boss Rarkley is such a better name and would be such a better player if he existed that I am now sad he doesn't. Gonna pour one out tonight in memory of Boss, the player that never was and what he could have been.
From the look of your post, you have poured one out already.

Koeman was all very vague about Barkleys latest hamstring injury...I'm not convinced there's anything wrong with him :cautious:
Funny how several players that have been linked with moves away from their clubs have picked up injuries.

Is this the first page you've read?

No. To my endless shame, I've read pretty much every post in all the threads for anyone of note. The significant majority can be categorised into:

- "Oh my God, what's JJ saying, f*ck unless he's saying it's above 86.9%, Chelsea will gazump us";
- "Get it done Levy, I'm so annoyed with him holding us back, it's time he started paying up or we'll be left behind"; and
- "Sounds like it's moving in the right direction"

To be clear, I've said 1 and 3 on multiple occasions, and don't get me wrong, these threads are great.

But the fact that a really random, surreal post that made me chuckle came along was a welcome break - that's all!

Sorry, I was only messing around - being sarcastically catty because some of my best work has gone into this window.

I've noticed it, obviously...what I really meant was "best post I've seen this window, apart from everything by Spurrific", must have been autocorrected or something...

Look at this from Everton's point of view, now he is injured he is fuck all use to them and he isn't going to rush himself back if they don't sell him so they face losing the transfer fee and pay his wages when he is bugger all use to them.
By the same token the pressure on us to get him NOW!!!! has gone so August 30th is fine by us and Ross isn't sitting there thinking he could be playing if they would let him go so his pressure valve has been released to a certain extent too.
My point is not that we have left this one now or will wait until the last day but it may well have slipped down the importance list allowing a little more concentration on one or two others this week, in a roundabout way it may have done us a favour.

Why try and buy him at all then? We can get him for free in a year.

The risk is that other clubs can also get him for free next summer and by that time he won't be too concerned about joining a club that will give him enough game time to be selected for England's WC squad.

Levy will probably use the injury excuse to lower the price citing that the player would not be fit and available to play for at least 2 months.

I would be happy with 15m-20m with some add-ons like PL appearance, goals, assists, etc. for the 1st season

Out for 3 months?
Leave it till Xmas window and grab a bargain for 5 mill.

As everyone has said, the problem with this approach is that other teams will think the same.

We could use this approach with Everton though and then go in with a low bid towards the end of the window.

The Christmas window is actually the January window meaning we might not even have him before February, three months out means he is playing for us mid November, almost three months sooner, and settled perfectly for the busy Christmas and New Year.

Indeed. Your 'slumping' of your co-worker and @Kaboul'sForehead and his antics with his cat* still have me laughing...hard.

*it has since been confirmed that no cats were physically or emotionally harmed during said rants.

My new thing is to go on holiday during international breaks mid-season, great way to escape the disgusting replacement of Spurs with international bullshit. Off to Ibiza for this one coming up (y)

It's not a Bobbins post without the word disgusting in it :giggle:
