Dembele was originally a number 10 at Fulham. So players can certainly develop. I think Ross Barkley would improve our squad. He is better than Sissoko or GKN. All the England contingent will know if he is good enough. I think it is quite a low risk signing if we can get him for a reasonable fee.

Perhaps that is why they are 'fans' and not making millions coaching talented players ?

Those same "fans" pissed themselves laughing because our guy who "makes millions coaching talented players" spent £30m to prevent Sissoko joining them. They were right, Poch was wrong.

It's a different story if the selling club is Real/Barca/Bayern - but if it's a team lower than us in the table and their fans aren't too bothered about the player going then alarm bells have to ring. Despite the song, Poch isn't magic - he can't just wave his hands over a young player and get them to realise their potential - plenty have failed to do so under him - Townsend, Carroll, Mason, you could also say Janssen and GKN have underwhelmed so far.

My appetite for this signing is entirely dependent on what sort of price levels are being discussed, but I guess with a year left on his contract this could be the perfect storm for Levy.

Strange that you pick out Mason when he got his England call up when he was playing consistently for us under Poch, also Townsend and Carroll didn't improve but Townsend hasn't really demonstrated that he's good enough and Carroll was always going to get better if he played consistently, he just didn't have the game time at Spurs...Jury is still out on Janssen and Nkoudou.

I don't get the split opinion, Ross Barkley is a huge talent and we'd be better with him in the squad.

I think the main bone of contention is the fee that we would have to pay. If we pay anything close to what has been reported that Everton wants (£50m?), then it would not be worth it as he would, for a start, only be a bench warmer. Additionally, as he has only a year left on his current contract, that fee would be unreasonable.

I personally think that Levy would not pay anything north of £25m for RB.

Fairly sure he's not seen as a bench warmer. I wasnt convinced innitially as although he has clear talent i think he seems to drift in and out of games. After taking a more in depth look at whats been said about him by his managers and coaches(plus other bits), I now personally believe he has been very mismanaged during his time at Everton.

I think he's shown he has talent and has potential, but he's clearly been mismanaged. He has a great dribbling and passing rate, and has flares of good form. I think Martinez absolutely misused him during that 3 year period, making his progression seemed stalled.

In their formation, two defensive minded midfielders operated behind Barkley, who sat as a third midfielder in the front. Lukaku was uptop isolated, and he would frequently drop back to get involved. This left Barkley either in a congested midfield or forced to go to the wing to find space. The whole system was stale and left no space for creativity isolated. The whole time he was expected to play support striker and left side midfield simultaneously. Give him direction and a clear role and he will do better. We saw glimpses of that under Koeman and Moyes.

5/1 to join us, money seems to have come in for him to go to Milan as that is now favourite

I thought Wanyama would be a bench warmer. I was wrong.

I don't get Barkley's stance...If he wants out he should just tell Everton and ask for a transfer request, either way the fans won't be happy.

Strong and I mean very strong rumours in Liverpool tonight (here on business) that he has signed a 5 year contract, very surprised if true as he seemed a dead cert to leave but its a strong rumour on the radio and echo that he has agreed 5 year extension, announcement tomorrow from Everton!

Someone like Trix is better versed in this, but I believe the player gets a percentage of the fee if he doesn't ask for a transfer. A loyalty bonus believe it or not!

Just went on an Everton forum and apparently another good Everton source has said that this isn't true.

good news as I believe he will be a good signing for us! will see I suppose what happens but they certainly seem confident up here that he has been sold the dream of Everton going for CL next year with their new board planning to invest significantly this summer.... their quote is "everton source: key assets will be kept and we will spend to ensure we fight for a top 4 finish next year"
