So when i say slow start i mean, we drew 6 games out of the first 11. Just got past Palace, Sunderland + Boro. However the key fixtures, WBA, Bournemouth & Leicester, which would have made us league winners and yes this was due to losing Kane. If we want to win leagues then we cannot afford to draw so man games. But when you look at this it does reflect the solid start we had and how bloody difficult it is to win this league. COYS.
I think this was down to also missing toby, dembele, vert, alli, and vert for some of these games. We missed Toby the most IMO and Poch set up not to lose (which we didn't). But we were restricted going forward as we didn't want to leave ourselves exposed at the back

Looks like you really missed him, you put him down twice....:)

I would expect to see this happen very quickly once Everton sign Siggy. IF they sign Siggy.

By very quickly I mean sometime during the transfer window :woot:

Have to say I'm impressed how Barkley has kept his counsel during this window. No whispers to the press, very respectful to his club. He must be incredibly frustrated, obviously desperate to leave but there no sign of a deal being imminent.

He has and the only word we've had reported as coming from him was his refuting the claim of wanting £120k a week so I read it like he feels positive about the move happening, we want him, he wants to come(apparently) and Everton clearly aren't dead set on keeping him so, on the grounds that we are dealing with a good club, I really do feel positive about this too..

@dovahkiin will either PM me when there's ITK or submit it to the Read Only at which point we'll open this thread and leave it open for the approx 45 seconds it'll take for some genie-eye to spam it again.

Could you give me this week's lottery numbers also? You seem to be pretty good at predicting, A&C :p

Good point. I think we just have to accept that right now we're balancing the books and net spend will be zero as we cover an £800million stadium.
We are not in a position, if anyone is, to go out like City, Chelsea etc and spend £100m plus on players.
Although, if net spend is to be zero - we still have to spend about £70m this window!

I've think people are seriously overdoing talk of 70-80 million...last year we spent 30 mil over net which is rare. It would not suprise me at all if the loan to buys were effectively counted as balancing out last years spend. Still the Walker money though.

I expect to see some last minute deals at the end of August - especially as Everton will be forced to sell by then as well.

The Telegraph have our net spend over the last three seasons down as a £12.6m profit (I think that total includes the 16.5m for Bentaleb, but even without that it's less than a 5m spend). The Sun, which I won't link to, has it as a £1m spend over the past five seasons.

It's true that we spent some last summer but we had turned a profit in previous windows. I think we've probably got somewhere right in the range of £75-80m to spend and that's without the sale of Sissoko.

Bit of a coincidence isn't it that we spent
30mil over and Bentaleb+Fazio+Njie probably works out at 30m.

We only spend what we make through transfers but people continue to ignore this even though it's been happening for years and will continue for years. It's in my opinion a very strict following of this too, maybe a mill or two over maximum.

We have whatever we sold walker for to spend, until we sell someone else (wimmer, sissoko) we won't spend anything more than that. It's one of the reasons I'm apprehensive over Barkley, because after him there's not going to be all that much money left unless we randomly get a big fee for Sissoko.

This was my point. Of course we are a well run club who can spend if need be. But generally we run at a net transfer spent and I think it's far from coincidence.

Is he willing to spend the entire summer in hiding at a hotel like nkoudou though? That's real dedication to a transfer
