Paul Clement saying deal for Sigurdsson is 'close'.

Imagine things will start to progress now if that's the case.

I suspect that the Grey Fox info relates to Barkley. IIRC theres been other ITK that says its close in the last few days as well, right? Wouldnt be surprised to see him sign for us next week after the Siggy deal goes through.

I don't know if it was complete guesswork, but Joey Barton seemed to think it was very close when he was talking to Dickhead Durham on TS yesterday. He's a massive Everton fan who could very well have close contact with the club.

This is the player I really want.
Premier League proven, good mates with our English core, loads of talent, seems to be willing to learn from Poch.

Links to Diop,Keita are nice but more a gamble than Ross would be. Bring him and Davinson over the line and I am happy. ANd hopefully Danny R. too lol.

£50m for Sigurdsson is difficult to justify if I'm honest...
I completely understand why he's worth 50m to Swansea, they view him as a booked ticket to next years Premier League and all the money that comes with and they aren't crazy to think so. Why he's worth that much to Everton I'm not sure I understand, but I guess it comes down to he's the best player in the league that isn't interesting to any of the clubs above them and whose wage demands they can meet.

Is there a possibility Everton cannot afford Gylfi before they receive the Barkley money?

Maybe they were expecting to have received a bid by now and this could be the hold up. They planned to sell Ross first.

There's one thing spending the Lukaku money, there's another thing spending 50m on a player without recouping the dosh.

Transfers are not paid in a lump sum

I'm pretty sure they are being forced to pay more than they want to for Gylfi, and therefore getting another transfer windfall before closing it would weaken their negotiations further.

Yep. If they sold Barkley to us for say 25 million, with only a year left on his contract, it could direct affect the value Swansea place on Gylfi considering they are similar positions.

Madness but thats the way its going now. I surpose if Everton want him they've got to pay through the nose, thats what the tv money and the likes of Man City & Chelsea have done to the game your be looking to pay £10m for a shit player.

Saying that we didnt help matters with £30m for Sissoko........ It might yet work out who knows.

Well, the Amazon rumours mean this might just be the start of a sharp incline.

Will we see £50m as an average in the next 3-4years?

If so, we need to invest heavy in the academy, plus luring exceptional youngsters into it.
