So, now this is Levy's fault? Most of SC didn't even want him, but now that it's a possible miss, you're all raving that it was Levy's fault?

The reality is that had we bought him in June it would have cost us 35+, now obviously that might have changed things, but what if he'd been injured a few weeks after we paid 40m for him?

I think it was smart business to wait this out.

When will Barkley be fit to play? November I read somewhere. If he's set his heart on Spurs he'll stay at Everton until January I guess, then we'll get him for a small fee.

I'd rather have OX. Although I'd guess the wages would be a stumbling block

The most bang average does-nothing player I've seen in recent years. He's barely worth £15m not £35m.

Football's gone mental when not only do people want a nothing player like Oxlaid-Chamberlain (I'm not using his stupid nickname), but would be willing to pay through the nose for him. He wouldn't get anywhere near our team in any position.

Fine. It's everton fault
I wonder what excuse we will have it he does sign for chelsea.

That Chelsea regularly can, and do, pay massively over the odds for players, regardless of whether it's a good deal, because they have infinite money and particularly like to go for players they know we are interested in as it prevents us getting them?

I'd take Ox in a heartbeat. He stagnated under Wenger but Poch would see him right. I suspect he'll look a different player at Liverpool.

I agree to be honest but he's still well overvalued at £40m with a year left on his contract. Not even sure where he fits into Liverpool's squad other than utility sub. He ain't a central midfielder. Anyway, Barkley...

Market values changed. The sooner you realise that, the better.

Demarai Gray is valued at 30m. An average player who's done absolutely nothing so far in his career.
Even with a year left on their contract, Barkley and Oxlade are young and on the national team. They were extremely highly rated a few years back. They have a lot more experience and quality than Gray and are only 2 years older.
That's why they value them at those numbers. If they were not in the last year, they wouldn't be available for transfer to begin with, and if they were, they would cost more than 50m

I know but he's a frustrated CM- that's where he sees himself, or at least as an AM/CM. I suspect Conte wanted him as a wingback which he doesn't particularly like

From what I hear they haven't even contacted him mate. He's set on coming here because he wants to play his way into the England side and thinks this is his best chance of doing so under Poch. If we don't get this done now I see him signing a new contract tbh because it's the only way he gets back into the Everton side. No way will he miss his chance of going to the world cup, none whatsoever.

Am guessing he may try for a move to Poch's merry men in Jan (still time to get in the WC squad) and if not perhaps would consider a new contract at Everton
