Samba Spurs: Could Tottenham Hotspur line-up with four Brazilians next season?

If that was our total summer transfer business, would you be happy?

First off, apologies if I've put this in the wrong section of the site?It just made for mouthwatering reading & is about Spurs, Surely I'm safe!!....

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with moves for Paulinho, Bernard and Leandro Damiao this summer, could they all fit in a formation with current player Sandro?

Source: HITC Sport

For Tottenham Hotspur fans, this summer’s transfer rumours have taken a on an especially Brazilian flavour, with Corinthian’s midfielder Paulinho - full name Jose Paulo Bezerra Maciel Junior - the latest to be linked with a switch to White Hart Lane.
Perennial target Leandro Damiao has also been mentioned, although there have also been suggestionsSpurs have given up on the striker, whilst winger Bernard is perhaps the most exciting of all the names connected with Tottenham so far this summer.
Clearly all rumours have to be taken as just that, rumours, but with Sandro already at the club, couldSpurs end up with four Brazilians in their team next season if there is truth behind the current speculation?
If they did, they would need to switch the formation to a 4-3-3, with Paulinho joining Sandro and Mousa Dembele in the centre of midfield. Paulinho is more of a box-to-box midfielder than Sandro, and demonstrated his eye for goal in Brazil’s recent friendly draw with England.
Bernard would play on the left-flank of a three man attack, with Gareth Bale perhaps in line for a switch to the right given his effectiveness at cutting in from that side in the second half of last season.
There are concerns about Bernard’s diminutive stature, but it is worth bearing in mind that current Spurs player Aaron Lennon is almost exactly the same size as the Brazilian youngster.
Finally Damiao would clearly play in the centre of attack, meaning Spurs would have four Brazilians in their front six alongside Bale and Dembele.
This all sounds a little fantastical, and when you look at some of the names that would have to be left out to play this side, including Lewis Holtby, Aaron Lennon, Emmanuel Adebayor and Gylfi Sigurdsson, it perhaps indicates that it is unlikely that Spurs are about to sign three young Brazilians.
However any of the three would be fine additions to the club, and add depth in areas of the formation where Spurs lacked options at times last season. Any deals are likely to be conducted after the Confederations Cup at the earliest, and Spurs fans will be paying more attention to that tournament than ever before.

i hope for bernard. i don't think paulinho is what we need and i prefer other strikers to damiao, so overall, no.

Damiao can do one at this stage, we don't need being messed about by his agent and his club any longer.

I'd be over the moon if that is our summer transfers, without having to sell any key players.
Would be like last summer's signings without losing Modric.
Paulinho is actually the one I want the most of the brazilians.

Ok I don't know if my wife is having a boy/girl (yet)
Ok, so I don't have a wife.

Not really keen on all this Brazilian samba talk - I'd rather we picked up some gems from the championship or somewhere... surely we have class players like those three over here?

One things for sure, the headline writers at the Sun would love it.

HIs contract is up soon so I reckon Mr Levy will be interested to bring an Asian star in during WC season.... I bet he will pay off his salary just by merchandise alone in Japan. LOL....:D

I probably will get a jersey with Honda to support the club. His passing range is just what we need.

Even there are gems, they cost like 8-10m easily.... and will not improve the squad. Might as well field our young players.

True. We already have enough young British prospects. (Carroll / Caulker etc) But I am well up for bringing in the class of players like Paulinho and Bernard. Just their touch and vision are enough to see that they will improve our 1st team. Vision / quick thinking / anticipation is the intelligent football we've lacked for too long. Players like Bale need others around them who can operate on the same level. Dembele is good, but there's been no movement around him to connect with this season with Parker in the team and only 2 in CM. Praying we get Bernard and would be happy with damiao because I'm not sure there's another similar no 9 in our price range.. and we need to play 433 imo.

I voted no as well, but regarding different players -- not over the moon with bernard, but paulinho looks the real deal and a good fit in the prem. leandro seems a bit overhyped, so I am not dying for this transfer either. If Spurs brought in Paulinho and Leandro, then 3 Brazilians are enough - Sandro back with his bionic knee and gomes safely away somewhere else (y)

But those 2 transfers woud not be enough tranfer business to make Spurs competitive for the Prem and/or make me "happy" (whatever that's worth) :mask:
