It seems it is open season at Tottenham. Following Luka Modric’s shock announcement that he would be interested in a move to Chelsea, the latest player to be linked with the exit at White Hart Lane is Brazilian midfielder Sandro.
Duncan Castles, a Sunday Times writer, has also produced an article in UAE publication The National which claims Sandro has instructed his agent to look for a transfer from Spurs.
Castles: “Sandro has joined Luka Modric in attempting to secure a move to a club that will play in next season’s Champions League and is under active consideration by Real Madrid. The Spanish side have been asked for a transfer fee of £35 million for the Brazil midfielder, who instructed his agent to explore the market at Champions League clubs.”
Jose Mourinho is reportedly unwilling to sign Sandro for four times the fee he was brought in for from Internacional but a swap deal is mooted for Lassana Diarra. The former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder played under current Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth.
Sandro was a revelation for Spurs in the second half of the season after joining the north London club early last season after winning the Copa Libertadores with Internacional.
The 22-year-old was sensational against AC Milan in the Champions League knock out rounds and scored one of the goals of the season against Chelsea late on in the campaign.
A valuation of 35 million pounds is probably a figure Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would accept at this point in time. But, it is unlikely any Champions League clubs would pay such a figure for a midfielder with less than a season in European football.
These are worrying times for Spurs fans, throughout today many would have been wondering how a central midfield of Sandro and Tom Huddlestone will hold up next season once Modric leaves. But this once again proves how much quality is within Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham squad.
If Levy rates Sandro at 35 million pounds, how much does he think Luka Modric (or Gareth Bale) is worth?
i'm genuinely getting worried for the future of our club now if this is true
