honestly, the old sc was way better. i used to frequent 3-4 spurs site, but bit by bit i stopped and only come to sc, purely because of how filtered, no BS the articles were. i love how light and precise the front page used to be and you get to know what is currently happening in the club just by reading that page. right now it feels like tribal football or those wind up site, spamming articles left right centre.

if fanatix does not contribute to help running the site, i would much rather its removed totally/option to block fanatix article in settings, or at least put them in a separated section instead of having it in the front page.

i cant speak for everyone but its really destroying the site for me

Some people really like all the gossip, no matter where it comes from or who writes it. Me personally, Fanatix is really awful, if the general consensus is to keep it, fair enough., but please take it off the front page or at least let the individual block it. In its present form it just cheapens the site, which is a real shame, because its right up there, at the 'must read'

Hi chaps,

Many thanks for the feedback.

At the moment we're sending through every story that our writers categorise as relevant to Tottenham. Given we seven full-time writers, it's unsurprising the front page appears a little spammy to some of you.

Instead of our articles posting automatically, we could perhaps send them to be moderated before someone (mawspurs?) decides which are worthy of publishing.

Alternatively, we could set up a separate feed to send to SC which does not include the transfer rumour or gossipy content.

Either way, we'll discuss with Rob and hopefully come up with an agreeable solution.

Cheers

The articles are a mixed bag, some I like and others not but that does not mean its a bad thing as it should cater for all tastes. But as another poster said it does feel like the front page gets hit with too many articles at once.

Some form of approval process would be welcome, overall I think it's a pretty good idea as long as it has a level of control. (can't please everyone!) :)

Fanatix is a terrible website. It doesn't even work while using a tablet.

Would rather not seeing any of their articles on this website please.

Rob, love SC etc, long time listener, frequent caller. But...

Not a fan of Fanatix, hugely speculative amateur-ish coverage and no better than Goal.com, and you wouldn't do a direct link with them

Fanatix was originally a football social network and it died on its arse. The only reason they started cobbling together news stories was because it was the only way they could get people coming back. Pure SEO play and done out of necessity rather than planning.

It's your site fella and won't stop me coming, but from a business point of view, no idea why you'd do it if they're not paying you. They literally create content to satisfy ad-deal hits, that is their business model, and you're helping them hit those targets. You should be compensated

Not like front page news was a barren wasteland anyway. I actually thought front page news was already too regular, so tended to skip it as we'd begun to post far too much opinion and not enough news. But since the Fanatix deal I appreciate far more the job Mawspurs was doing in editing out the shit

Poor quality will only increase with this lot pumping Google search fodder in. 99% of articles on Spurs online are made up nonsense - there's plenty of that in Spurs Chat. 'News' needs an editor, not a content factory, giving these articles an SC curation and tone. If they provided this service, that's one thing, but just pumping in copy from another unrelated, corporate and different toned site? Seems really odd

Not loving the changes to the front page. But that's mostly cause that's the only place I go usually in SC these days. Too many spammers in the forums. (Cue the dislike brigade).
Some of the articles have been laughable from fanatix. I suspect that at some point the signing of the Barcelona three will just be a day away. That sort of thing gets up all of our noses and doesn't really hAve a place ( outside of questionable ITK).

I want to big up Mawspurs who I think has done a great job over this last while at picking through the rubbish and posting stuff that we on this particular site will find relevant and interesting concerning our club. So well played mate and I for one would like to see that continue.

However things change and If this partnership with fanatix helps things become a bit simpler for the guys running this place then we shouldn't dismiss it out if hand. Perhaps what is required has already been suggested By fanatix themselves. That being that articles are sent to be moderated first and then put up on the page. For me that would make sense.

Anyway. Just a few thoughts

Having spoken to my union rep and being told that I haven't been paying my dues, I wholeheartedly endorse my evil overlord's superior's opinion. It ain't no thing. Kinda weird not seeing Maws do his thing. But it gets the job done of rounding up all the pertinent stories. Only an occasional visitor to that section anyways. I usually try and get the kewl kids' favour in Spurs Chat.

Spurs Bear once called me a wanker which was great. He knew who I was!

Love this site but am def not a fan of this. Unless it is well moderated it's only going to pump the bullshit stories we all complain about straight into out face via the front page. It's bad enough reading opinion pieces by so called journalists but ones by every other tom dick or harry as well is too much if you ask me, ( which I m sure you aren't but hey ho).

Doesn't do it for me. Errors have been spotted already and having to "tweak" articles doesn't bode well.

I think the option of someone moderating it is a good one. SC gets all the stuff sent to it and chooses what to put up or not

They asked for feedback. No one's moaning, it was solicited opinion

I'm not going to lie, it's fucking awful. I can't stand Fanatix, well before it was on here. I'm not a fan of this rise in speculative sports journalism where everyone is a journalist if they have fingers and a keyboard.

Will it stop me using the site? No. I'll just stick to Spurs Chat but then I mainly do anyway

I think all these football websites that have popped up are very cheesey and I don't think football fans in general even like them. They draw people in with a shocking headline and turn out to be rehashed tabloid trash. They will always get traffic on their sites because some people can't help but bite, the owners of the sites know what they're doing.

The reason I joined this site years ago was because of the front page, I didn't even investigate the forum for a long time. There used to be really good articles from the likes of Ally Gold and loads of in depth discussion and debate from people like davidmatzdorf and BC. I hope we don't lose that as it was what made this place stand out from the other generic Spurs forums.
