I'm still thinking, after Di Canio's statement about wanting some English grit in his midfield last week, that Sunderland may make a move for Mr Parker. Di Canio loves 'proper' professionals, people who lead by example and act in the correct manner, both on and off the pitch. That's about as close to a description of Scotty Parker as you'll find anywhere in football. I know there's nothing out there that suggests this is likely, it's just a feeling I've had since Di Canio made that statement last week and everybody assumed he was talking about Huddlestone.

I would have thought we would have had to pay him a 'sweetener' to go - loyalty bonus and all that. Of course we've saved his wages, but it won't have been £3.5-4m clear though I wouldn't think.
