But multiple deals have happened right at the close of the window pending work permit approval. So long as the deal between the clubs has been signed and approved prior to the close of the window, I think we are ok to get the permit approved after the window closes. We've done as much as we can, it's out of our hands.
I hope this is all academic and a decision has been made by the end of today. If a decision has not been made then we have an important decision to make ourselves.
So in that respect there is more we can do. If a decision is delayed we can either:
A.Gamble and hope it's favourable after deadline day ; or
B. Decide that an unfavourable decision post deadline is not worth the risk and adopt plan b by signing another RWB instead.

All I'm saying is I'd like to think that those possibilities have all been worked on behind the scenes and know that sufficient scouting has been done to enable us to adequately consider going for option B if we think the risk in option A is too great.

I just don't think he's good enough to be our first choice. Pointing out that Walker wasn't always perfect doesn't change my feeling that Trippier is often not perfect. I like the lad as a person. He seems like a good kid who gives everything he's got....I just dont think it's enough for a top tier club. I would be happy to keep him as cover but that's my honest opinion.

So does that mean you expect more from Trippier than you did from Walker? Not being difficult, just can't really understand the re-writing of history regarding Walker that's all.

We seem to be forgetting the other party here. If PSG really do want to offload him then there is likely something in the deal that will allow them to move on before the transfer deadline as well.

From 'duffster' on COYS...

Until the applicant (SA) and his sponsor (Spurs) are given a decision there's no way anyone apart from the decision maker could really know the outcome of the WP/Visa application.

If someone had inside sources at Marsham Street, they may have received information from the horse's mouth so to speak.

Although who might have those sources I couldn't say. ;)

i didn't bring up Walker. But since you have, Walker was in the team of the season. He developed into a very good right back. He was purchased by a club for a record fee for a reason. The club is not going after a third rb because they are feeling anxious about the extra unused cash in their pocket. I doubt seriously that the sole reason Walker was sold was because Poch thought Trippier was a better player. The lad has got a serious cross in him but he doesn't have much else other than an admirable desire to work hard. I am not trying to relitigate the Walker transfer....I merely replied to the original poster who said he thought we are just fine with what we have.

Hard not to feel that way. but there is something different about this window with the level of itk and the confidence/positivity of itks. Also, if poch doesn't get roughly what he wants he'll start seeking a way out imo. As he doesn't fuck around, he's probably made DL aware of this.

I agree, the positive vibes from all our respected ITKs has been refreshing & is good to hear. Lets hope that this is just the downward curve before the positivity grows again!

I hope DL doesn't undermine Poch, he is the best thing to happen to our great club in a long time and we need him at the helm for the foreseeable future!

If I could be so bold as to chime in. I expected more from Walker. I hoped for Aurier before I knew Walker was even going. And after it was common knowledge he was going I was fully on the Aurier and Perriera trains. Walker was too technically limited and throughout a game this fault was more glaring than his brainfarts, which he substantially cut down on. Trippier isn't, never has been and will never be 1) Walker's equal in any right back footballing criteria (save crossing and some linking passing) or 2) Up to 'starter' standards for a team with top 4/title aspirations. He is just not good enough (why do people keep coming up with lame arguments to combat this obvious point) and, worryingly, he doesn't look durable enough (in the last 4 week we have played 4 games and he has been hurt for 3 of them and had to come off twice toward the end of last year).

The silly argument of his usurping Kyle for the position is disingenuous. The idea that he performed so great during a streak is as well. The table was set for most teams by the time that occurred. Most were only playing hard until we scored and then we could fill our boots. Betcha we won't beat Leicester 6-1 this fall no matter how well we play because that game will matter.

I've felt that the worst thing for Trip's career has been his defacto elevation to starter. He is not good enough and now other teams will find out. If/When KWP surpasses him then that will limit his options. Because he seems an excellent bloke I hope that when/if Aurier does come Trips performs excellently again as backup so he has some nice options for a final payday. Because if there is one thing I have seen from the Under X Euros and KWP's NUFC game it is that he is a better defender instinctively than Trips. His body position is better. His anticipation and decision of when to challenge for the ball is better. He seems to have more promise and as one of our own we should reward that.

I genuinely believe that if Poch doesn't get the signings he is after then he will be off by the end of next season and so will some of our best players in the following seasons after his departure.

I am not trying to be hyperbolic but it's the impression I get hearing Poch, he rarely mentioned transfers previously but he has now made a point on numerous occassions of not only talking about them but also giving a specific number on how many he wants.

That, imo, is why I think he will be off if he doesn't get what he wishes for and frankly, I wouldn't blame him, he deserves it at this point after all he has done for this club.

In other news the home office is having a shocker today from a PR perspective!
Even if it granted today, I doubt we will announce the deal today, Friday I bet.
