On a purely footballing basis he's the only guy (we had a chance of signing) who I don't think there'll be a decline from losing Walker. He's a perfect full back for a Poch side and think he could flourish quickly and be seen as one of best full backs in the league in a year or so. Really hope this goes through.

Good points. I think the differentiating feature here though is the players you mentioned above are still trying to make it, so as a top development club we are a perfect fit. Aurier already has at PSG, he's the kind of player the top European clubs tend to trade amongst themselves (see Juve, Utd links) which makes it very exciting assuming his off field issues are in the past.

My take on this is, he's removed bad apples bought in by previous regimes. In this instance, he obviously feels he's on the front foot from the off. No doubt it's been made crystal clear that club will not tolerate six behaviour. There is a strong culture within the current squad, built off the back of removing the previous trouble makers, that is quite probably able to reign Aurier in if needed through peer pressure.
