Tottenham have pencilled in a medical for Ryan Sessegnon after a breakthrough in negotiations with his club Fulham. The Londoners are closing in on the signing of the left winger, 19, after making progress with their summer-long pursuit of the Cottagers sensation in recent days.

A source with knowledge of Tottenham recruitment has told Football Insider the club are confident of reaching an agreement with Fulham in the coming days after extensive talks over the structure of the deal.

I’d love for us to keep rose and sign Sessegnon, playing Sessegnon as a left winger in rotation with son until he’s ready to transition into the left attacking fullback position that rose occupies

I'd think it was far more sensible to keep someone as good as Son on the pitch as much as possible, you want as many good players on the pitch as you can get. Sessegnon and Son on the pitch would be far more potent than Rose and Sessegnon - and both quick and diligent enough to get back and do the defensive side of the game.

I disagree, sess ain't ready imo. Rose and Son are on another level to him atm. If he plays anything like he played for Fulham last season he'll be a passenger, and there's no room for passengers on our trip.
Saying that i hope I'm wrong, and his Fulham form was more about Fulham being bad; It's just that whenever I saw Fulham he was invisible for large stretches.

Sessegnon is imo an attacking lift/right mid 'in the making'.
I would keep Rose

i'm absolutely certain Sessegnon is a better football player than Rose, although at this moment in time i admit that he doesn't tackle like Rose. But then we have Davies who can tackle just as well as Rose. There is no point trying to judge Sessegnon on the glimpses you saw of Fulham last season - judge him on what he does with us, you will be pleasantly surprised.

I agree with the first part, i've felt that Sessegnon will 'do a Bale' and go from LB, to left wing (left side of front 3) then ultimately be a right sided front 3 player, cutting in and scoring plenty.

I hope your right brother but even in a bad team you notice good players, or terrible players, Sess was just invisible. I don't think he's near ready.
I'm not saying he's bad, but right now he doesn't look ready for the Prem. He's a kid with potential; replacing Danny Rose...Nah.

I thought he stood out at Wembley, but they were freshly promoted.
He is young and if his side is being twatted every week, then naturally his form would drop.
Get his confidence back and he has the talent to be very good.

MP is at his best when he has a young team, and unfortunately that means non-spine mature players have to move on if they are not providing the team with energy.
Rose certainly provides energy but he is at an age now where his crazy commitment will get him injured. I suspect MP kept moving him into midfield as that is the only area he could potentially hold down a place for another 3/4 years and so justify a new contract.
