I can't be annoyed by that. I'm still annoyed that against 10 men we couldn't beat PAOK at home.

I'd very much like to see Townsend get more time in the PL. I know we very rarely have an 'assured' lead where we can risk youngsters, but he does look very exciting. Reminds me of Lennon when he was 19/20, and just used to dart directly at players. Similar sort of problem with the final ball, however, where it just hits the first man and goes out for a corner. If he can sort it out, he'd be a great weapon against the lesser teams.

Most promising of the young lot though, I reckon.

oh well. glad Kane got a goal, and falque looked decent again.

livermore looked pretty good in defence too.

all i want to say though, is GDS is absolute pap! Townsend outplayed him by a mile. ive always tried to give GDS the benefit of my doubt, but after tonight i cant wait until he's gone

I must say, if Harry really was trying to win this game by 5 goals, then why sub Defoe out when it was clear to all that GDS was pants AND was out of gas by the 65th minute?

I just get a little frustrated in these tournaments where Harry tanks out of it,... why enter them when all that he does is work so hard to bow out of them?

EDIT -- just saw the post match interview with Harry,... basically, "Well that's over with now, so I can finally send players out on loan..."

Understood, in the end PAOK couldn't/didn't/wouldn't/paid not to beat 10 man rubin kazan

Well done to the B (or maybe even C) squad tonight

Townsend played well and it was a shame Falque didn't come on earlier - COYS!!

Gio's awesome.

Please tell me your tongue is wedged into your cheek!

Stevie P. was excellent tonight. Glad we're out, time to loan the young ones and concentrate on staying in the Top 4.

Great to see Harry Kane get a goal.

After just coming back home and not knowing the score I started from page 3 and worked my way through and actually thought shit we've done this but alas it was all a bit too little too late.

Not to worry though, hopefully some of our fringe players will get another run out in the FA Cup should we have a favourable run and we've cut down on our fixture list which should in theory help us maintain our, dare I say it, title push!

I'm happy. I bet £4 that we would win 4-0 at 16/1

PAOK defeat at home with walker bale Modric Lennon Defoe and a man advantage for over a half was an absolute disgrace. If we just drew that we would be through

Kranjcar was soooooo unfit. Our best player was Townsend followed by Pienaar. Our worst play was Gio. His time is now well and truly up. We should take 5m and laugh all the way to the bank

Sell him and Pav and buy a striker of Adebayors quality

Really nice to see Niko back and he was the best player on the pitch tonight.

Disagree. Assou-Ekotto, Kaboul, Livermore, Townsend, Pienaar all more impressive IMO. I was loving Ekotto just enjoying himself pretending to be a right winger. He was actually great as well!

I thought Livermore was our best player actually (bar the red card incident), said the other day that I could see him becoming a centre half and although it wasnt the strongest opposition tonight he has acquitted himself well there in a couple of Europa League games now.

Pienaar was much better for us tonight. I'm still not sure he fits that well into our style of play, he doesnt move the ball quick enough for me, but stood up as a senior player although like Niko think he too faded later on although probably due to a lack of matches.

Townsend reminds me a lot of Bale...

Although I didn't see this game, anyone know a place to download the match or something?

I'm a little sad we didn't make it. Only ourselves to blame, but after winning 4-0 it would've been nice to progress. I think we would've taken it more seriously, had we gotten through to the knockouts and woud've stood a decent chance of winning the thing.

I thought both Krancjar and Pienaar looked a bit off the pace. They weren't bad at all, but considering the opponents I thought that decision making and passing was pretty inconsistent from both of them.

Good squad players for us but not sure they will be challenging the first team any time soon.

Pienaar was at the heart of anything we created of note, he made us tick and put his foot in, for a player coming back from injury he was the most impressive IMO.

Lovely footballer.

We always knew the other result would very likely seal our fate and it did.

However, I have nothing but praise for the way we exited, as we went down fighting and a 4-0 score line is certainly nothing to be ashamed of. We came very close and should be proud of our boys for the effort they put in.

I just hope Harry's "gesture", raising his fist to the Shamrock supporters who had heckled him throughout the game, isn't going to get him into trouble as it has been reported that there is going to be an enquiry into it.

The FA would be putting their time to much better use doing something about refereeing standards IMO.
