we've got 6000 hardcore fans there tonight so I recon the place will be rocking so it should help the players get up for it

Tough crowd..

"Tough" is certainly one word, but I can think of a few others...

I would never, ever neg someone for something like that. In fact I rarely ever do it even when I probably should. Some people are just assholes.

Of course if we lose to them we don't deserve it......

What if we get Foy'd and have 2 blatant goals ruled out for no apparant logical reason, a penalty given against us for looking at somebody the wrong way and a player sent off for diving after being hacked down by a 2 footed lunge. We go on to lose the game, would we deserve it?

My weak-kneed faith and burnt fingers make me think that we'll lose 2-1 tonight and win, after a long, heavy-legged extra time, on the away goals rule. It is just so like us.

I shall count it as some victory if more than half of our team (Vorm not included) kick off without wearing gloves. Would love to see a few in short sleeves tonight, despite the icy temperatures, showing that not all players from south of Watford are made of marshmallow. I used to love playing against people wrapped up against the elements. A few early rattlers and they would shiver on the wings and tippy-tappy about.

Incidentally, if anyone is attending the game and they see a man who looks like Alan Shearer would have done if he hadn't been a professional footballer, could you give him a kind steer away from Hillsborough and up the road to Bramall Lane. He's a friend of mine who has just texted me from the train and he's already into his second six pack. I worry that he might not see kick off. Or home this evening. Neither for the first time...Thank you.

Frankly, I'm just baffled as to why the term "cupset" hasn't caught on when talking about fixtures like this.

We should have the quality in abundance for this one. But that isn't always enough when you're into the harsh reality of the game itself.

Semi Final under the lights
26,000 strong and partisan home crowd
Freezing temperatures, howling gales and snow
Team managed by a Clough (Implies a bunch of tough muthafuqers who can play a bit)

Even moreso than last wednesday, our boys will know they're in a game within 5 mins. We really need to play the personalities in games like this. Not weak players like Paulinho.

Anyone know what the weather looks like in Sheffield? Is an abandoment a possibility. One thing's for certain. A shitty night with a shitty deterorating pitch isn't exactly going to help us.

Very windy and wet (according to someone who has recently arrived). Cold too. Come to think of it, a little like most of the women who have visted my life...

I expect them to come flying out the traps tonight so we have be switched on from the start, especially in defence. We need to get control early and not let them build confidence. A nice early goal would be ideal for us but we tend to start slow.

That start slow being for the opening 88minutes you mean...

By the time the game starts I'm going to be thinking we're playing Real Madrid at the Bernebau.

This is not healthy.

We'll get an early goal and show them the difference between the Premiership and League one...or...

What should help is the fact that Sheffield MUST score, so at some point they will have to come at us and that creates space. Let's just hope we can exploit that effectively.

If we get an early goal they have to score 3 goals to go through. If the scores are level at 90 mins eg 2-1, 3-2 etc to Sheff U there is extra time. At the end of extra time the away goal rule applies.
So it can only be penalties if the score is 1-0 to Sheff U after ET.

A hard game for sure. A perfect one to trip us up. But with a good team (Surely there's no other option for Mo is there?) and the right attitude we'll beat them.

Our away fans will be in good voice, you just know it. If that doesn't get the team going then nothing will. Looking forward to this one with the usual pinch of caution.

Pay Sheff. a little respect, they've earnt it for getting this far against who they have... but then I want them taken apart and the game won with 20 mins to go.

You hear me footballing gods. Do ya?!!!
