People bitching about Lamela, honestly, sometimes there are just no words. Not only was he really good tonight both in attack and, just as importantly, in deffence, but this was also only his second game back in under a week after being out for a good long while with an injury. Give the kid a break for once.

We definitely should of been a couple of goals up, even by half time. We had numerous openings that we failed to take advantage of and it nearly came back to bite us on the arse. That's frustrating, as our play on the whole merited a more comfortable scoreline.

However, I thought we saw the high press more times in that first half than we've seen in any other half of football under Pochettino so far. That's what encouraged me tonight. I can't recall us winning the ball high up the pitch so frequently than that first half. We controlled the game and limited them to absolutely nothing, bar Vorm doing his level best to gift the opposition another goal for a second time in a few days.

Had Kane got his head up a few more times, I doubt we'd be having this conversation tonight.

How about you give Pochettino some credit, you vanished around the time of the Chelsea game lol, and surely you're relieved to see us inch closer to safety as relegation was on the cards not so long ago!

Which is what I posted, and what we've seen repeatedly this season.

He didn't, so we aren't.

For what? Losing against Leicester and Palace? Some pretty dire displays even when we did get the win? Chelsea was the exception that proved the rule: we've been pretty crap and ridden our luck for much of the season. I can't make up my mind whether that's down to the players, the coach, or both.

Gets pointed out from time to time, but is useful for us to put Poch and this team in to perspective. Just reached a final and sitting ok in the league...

Of the 18 players named tonight, only 4 were over 27 which includes the two keepers. 10 were under 24 years old. That is some long term core....

But don't moan we are in a final! If you moan apparently there is something wrong with you !!!! I think we are concerned are we not at how we can't put teams to bed and we still have signs of a soft centre ? Surely even though we have reached a final we aren't all satisfied when players under perform and we can air our views on here?

I'm sorry, but if you're still moaning after seeing your team reach a final for the first time in 6 years, there's something seriously wrong with you.

SC at its Finest, won't be happy until we win b2b CL titles even then people would moan asking why we didn't do it sooner.

No ones moaning that we have reached a final ! People are concerned and disappointed by certain aspects. If poch isn't moaning and a bit concerned after sat and tonight then there's something wrong with him!

If we win the Cup after being battered for 92 minutes and get a scrappy 93rd minute goal to win 1-0, would you complain?

So many times we've been glorious in defeat its nice just to win in any way. Just getting to a final should do wonders for our young squad.

Seeing as we must discuss Lamela, one thing i found noticeable is that he rarely throws his arms up in incredulity when Kane shoots rather than passes.

Time after time he'd be making a supporting run in the box only for Kane to shoot - and rather than showboat and pretend he was a monty for a tap in, Lamela would just get on with it.

Refreshing.

It hasn't all been dire though and it hasn't all been crap. We're in a final, still in the Europa League and still involved in the race for fourth - even if we're outsiders. Its well over half way through the season now and we're still in contention, despite a new manager coming in with a completely new style to impart on an unbalanced squad which I'm sure he'll like to reshape.

I thought we were looking good tonight, the ten minute wobble aside after the changes, and that gives me even more confidence that we'll get there under Pochettino, particularly when he gets a few more suitable types in.

i suppose if you don't want to view it as a work in progress, where there has been some gradual progression, that's up to you. I suppose if you think nothing will improve over time and the early months should be plain sailing under a new regime who are trying to change the way we play - yeah, you'd be disappointed.

Any new manager should be given time. Now, he's getting results in the process yet the negativity is unreal. Guess that explains why the atmosphere has gone to shit though.

Obviously delighted to get through and I thought for most of the game we were very good. This was setup for an upset, freezing cold and snowing against a team that have been specialising in cup football and knocking out premier league opponents. For me we dominated the first half and should have been more than one ahead, even in the second we had chances before they scored.

Ok, we had a bad 15 mins or so but a lot of that was down to Dembele having to go off and them going a bit more direct and making the most of their chances. The big thing for me though was the way the team responded with the second goal, that shows to me that the mentality is changing and all the late goals are not down to luck but the beginnings of a winning mentality and the players and management deserve credit for this.
