But I've said that from the start...

"Up and at em" and a bit of motivational speaking, as well as bring Ade back, will get results against the poor teams. It's when we encounter someone good that he needs to prove he knows what he's doing.

By that I don't mean I expect a win against City by any means. If we can set up against them to give them a game and not get thumped I'll be happy and much more confident going forward.

First signs today that he can adapt when needed and gave Laudrup a surprise with his starring line up :)

I'm in the US this week and couldn't watch the game so genuinely don't know, how did Sherwood do? Did we set up well and get unlucky or was Sherwood shown to be out of his depth?

You beat the bottom 12 clubs home and away, you get 72 points - guaranteeing top 4 in 99% of seasons. FACT

Anything against the top teams is a bonus

You say you are not anti-sherwood, but your last 100 posts are all lambasting him and his tactics/inexperience/dresscode whatever.

City were well up for it and they're a team that put 3 against Peps Bayern away and are now unbeaten in 20 winning 18 of those. We were well run over in the 1st 30 mins and lucky to be just one down, then we got somewhat into game until wrongly called pen and red early 2nd half. Then it was all over.

again started off on the back foot and lucky not to concede an early goal

Sigy was a strange call to make at LM if he wanted to try and help Rose out at the back i would have thought Chadli would have been a slightly better option.

CM was over run, but we did play better as the game went on.

From now to the end of the season is Sherwood's big test for me. He has to pick the team up and get them ready for the next game, tactically and motivate them.
Lets see is he can learn from the games he has managed so far

The reactions of some people on here are incredible.

Tonight sucked, it's another embarrassing defeat, but you guys need to channel your emotion in a different way.

How anyone could use this game as a basis of opinion to slag off Tim must be mental. Complaints from other games we ended up winning are probably more valid.

Initially we were asking for trouble playing 4-4-2 every week. He then changed it to the majorities preferred 4-2-3-1 and we won the next game. Still not enough.

We then come up against the most deadly side on the planet right now, with key defensive players out, and get completely hung out to dry by the linesman at 1-0.

Yes we were poor, but Tim didn't tell them to keep giving the ball away cheaply. We also IMO showed plenty of fight despite the apparent gulf in quality. A gulf in quality that isn't exactly Tim's fault.

IMO Capoue does not look ready to me, nowhere near his pre-injury form. If Sandro was fit and left out, that would be a much more legitimate complaint.

Pretty much the whole football world expected a city win today, and that was without us getting a raw deal from the officials! What a massive failure on our part, and especially Sherwood's (sarcasm)

He took over a good team that were playing well, not exactly a surprise.

He took over team playing terribly despite getting some results, team that had won 1 out of last 6 home PL fixtures and even that by lucky pen. Team that had scored well less than 1 per game from open play and whose gd was way negative.

Cherry picking stats is a great way to demonstrate you haven't got an arguement

Meh.

He is only in charge until the world cup ends. Just try to sit back and enjoy it, it's like being slowly strangled to death by a hot women

Watching the games was enough for most of us, the stats just backed that up!

I'm assuming you're replying to me?

If the stats backed it up, you'd use the stats. You didn't. You picked the stats that backed up what you believed.

Methinks we need a Middle Eastern or Russian oil baron sugar daddy. And a shake up in the scouting department - from what we've seen from the new buys so far this season I could have done better without my glasses. Why are we always the team to get the players that don't do well when they come to the EPL eg Postiga, Rebrov, Boateng, Soldado, Lamela etc etc? Is it because we are not prepared to pay the salaries that the other top teams are paying and therefore end up with the second quality players. Or is it because we are not prepared to pay for (and support $$$$$) a top class manager. The last time we had a manager of real quality was Billy Nic. Nothing against Tim (and I wish him all the luck in the world), but how does he and Gross and Graham and Ramos and Santini and AVB and even 'Arry stack up against Mourinho, Wenger, Ferguson and Pelligrini. Unless we build the new stadium we will never have the money to throw at players and managers (Man city were a division one side until they started throwing the money and thatb attracted the right players so it can be done. Look at them now.) And while we penny-pinch we are never going to reach the highest quality that the supporters clamour for. And there is only one place to squarely place all the blame. LEVY OUT
